Lollipop 5.0 [Its out! 11/12]

Hello,

If I manually install Lollipop on my Nexus 5, will I receive future OTA updates or will I also have to manually install them too?

Thanks

If you install the official stock builds, either by ota or factory image, you can still get official updates from Google. It's only when installing a custom rom that you lose this ability.

Think I got it to show up, only when i was already in sideload mode. It's a string of letters and numbers followed by sideload. Sound correct?

I'm not gonna post a pic because I don't want to show what is probably my serial number

That sounds about right. Should be good to go from there.

I had the same driver issue after booting into recovery, adb saw it before I booted into recovery, once in recovery it didin't (had the same problem on the last kit kat update). I followed this guide while booted in recovery and it worked. The update is patching stuff right now.

Mine is in the patching phase of the OTA as well... will update here if it works or not :P

It's rebooting with the new bootscreen so hopefully everything went well

...and L is so darn pretty :)

Thats a good sign! I'm in the middle of "Optimizing App 108 of 142". I hear this is the part that takes a while.

One new feature I loved is the 'tap to copy accounts/apps' from another 5.0 device... was great since I was installing on both my N5 and my N7 :)

Yeah, I used that feature to copy from my Nexus 7 to my Nexus 5. It's great. Unfortunately with Nova it doesn't restore the screen layout, but I had a cloud back up for that, so everything is back as it was before. I just had to configure some of the accounts. Totally awesome.

So, dumb question, but how does phone encryption work? I'm mostly curious with respect to mounting the phone to move stuff (mp3s, keepass db) to the phone. Is that still possible with the phone encrypted (maybe unlock the screen to allow the mount to work?). How much slower is the phone with encryption on?

I was reading the encryption thread on reddit, it appears the snapdragon has instructions to assist encryption speed, but qualcom has not made them available to AOSP. It seems everyday performance is still good tho.

Hey guys, I'm not really sure where to post this question, but it has to do with Android L update on Nexus 5 so here it goes.

I just got my update notice for L, I was extremely ecstatic. So I immediately downloaded it OTA and hit the "reboot to finish installing" prompt when it appeared. Except when it rebooted, the following screen came up. I have no idea what this is, but I don't know how I can add a picture on here to show you guys. Anyone able to help?
