Root [Boost Mobile] Tri-Band S3 (SPH-L710T)

Hello all! I'm joining this little community of L710T users, as my device is coming in the mail today and I have a few questions before I attempt to root/install ROMs.

After reading this entire thread, I have come to the conclusion that the best way to go about rooting and installing ROMs on our devices is the following:

1. Download latest Odin and PhilZ Touch. (am I correct in assuming that I no longer need to upload the SuperSU.zip to my phone and that PhilZ will do that for me?)

2. Install PhilZ from Odin.

3. Root in PhilZ. (up to here I think the steps are exactly the same as the regular L710, correct?)

4. Install ROM. Profit.


Should I do a Nandroid after I get root, but before I install the new ROM? What other type of backup should I do in order to ensure I save an image of my stock phone with all the radio and IMEI info?

Second, what are the closest to pure Android ROMs that work on this device that don't mess with the radios or IMEI?

You are 100% correct you always want to make a nandroid backup before you try to do anything different . You also will want a backup every and anything that you can using the recovery I don't know much about that phone I don't have one. But I have been following it. In Philz under Advanced I believe you can back up your modem and all that stuff. Then you will want to back them up to your computer so you have it backed up in two different places in case one breaks or fails. You should be able to then flash any of the rom listed in this thread and if you run into a problem you will have backups of everything to fix phone back to original. I just wanted to stress on the backups.

Agreed. As I started reading this thread and the dangers of flashing this phone, my first concern became making sure I have a stock image of everything. Thanks for the advice.

So can anyone confirm that CM11 M10 works with this model and doesn't mess with any of the radios/IMEI? Does screen rotation work with CM11 M10?
 
ok so i wanted to know what exactly is needed to from a fresh out of the box (not even activated yet) phone to create the stock rom or .tar file that is so badly needed... if someone can let me know or point me to a thread ill be glad to help

No it's not modded, that's one reason i want to root my phone" after i root i can use my phone to jailbreak my ps3...

Just got the phone. I'll mess with it later on tonight.

Can someone confirm what is the latest CM that works with the L710T which doesn't break the radios or screen rotation?

Earlier in this thread someone posted a stock image. You should be able to use that. I wonder what happened to the OP and some of the earlier contributors to this thread. They seem to have disappeared. What we really need is a dev to step in and help.
 
I was looking at another post on this particular phone and read that you would have to go to mounts and storage to delete the necessary files to run this phone properly and that Philz wouldn't do it. Can anyone confirm this 100 percent? If that's the case, would I be able to look through my nandroids for the stock tar?
 
So I be stuck without a s3 bc nobody ain't working on it come on now l710t is like all s3 now my s3 is bootlooping if that was the case they should made different threads for this phone then keeping it with l710

would need to know the steps taken that lead to the bootloop to get the best help!!!!
also if u read through this thread u would know that this thread is for SPH_L710T
