Root How can i change boot sound?

CrimsonToker

Ive changed my boot animation to Mario running across the screen, with the words Android Is Loading above him. Its great, it boots quickly and plays smoothly. So now i want a boot sound to match, part of the mario theme or something. I did a google search and found results for a different phone (/system/sound/poweron) but it didnt work for me, and i havent yet found the boot sound mp3..

You might need to change the boot sound to .Ogg format when you choose one in order for android to use it. Try renaming the file in root explorer and then reboot to see if it works :)

Boot sound is in /system/media/audio/ui/ and is named PowerOn.ogg

You will need to get your new boot sound tweaked to your liking, convert it to ogg format, rename it PowerOn.ogg and copy to the above directory, overwriting the existing. Reboot and it should work. Might take a few tries to get it synced up to your liking.

Use the zedge app to find the song
Download it and rename and move

Edit
Just verified this worked
Find sound you want
Download
....saves to sdcard/zedge
Rename to PowerOn.ogg
Replace existing system/ media/ audio/ ui/ PowerOn.ogg
set permissions rw-r--r--
Reboot

I'm not a hundred percent, but I think 30 seconds is the longest you can have. Anything over that will get cut off. I'd probably try to keep it between 5 and 15 seconds. I'd try to sync it to your boot animation so they kinda end about the same time.

I tried with a 2 minute audio file, It played for about 12 seconds before it cut it off.
Sounds about right... I don't think it's meant to play a sound during the entire boot process. That would draw a lot from the actual loading.

No it definitely had a limit on how long the boot sound would play. I just wasn't sure if it was 15 seconds, 30 seconds or what it was, so figured I'd find out. I personally disabled the boot animation and sound.

Figured the less crap happening at boot, the faster it'll boot. Doubt it's a noticeable difference but I'm OCD like that.

I just added a bunch of boot related build prop tweaks and my phone boots so much faster now!

Actually that's a good idea, since the list of tweaks i found was supposedly for a different phone. Does that make a big difference?
