Root Updating Very Old ROM to Current

md99

Newbie
I am running Viper 1.7.0 and have been for a very long time. I decided I should really update but started looking into it and it looks fairly complicated. It looks like I may need to unroot completely then basically start over after updating firmware? I realize I have some research to do, but could someone give me the quick cliff note version and point me in the right direction? Thanks guys.

Thanks guys. I've got s off. I appreciate the direction. I've been rooting and playing with various roms and tweaks since my og evo but I'm rusty with it being so long. I'll let you know if I run into issues.
