Root Why does dumpster keep restarting?

CrimsonToker

Clean master has alerted me to this multiple times over the past week, and its slowing my phone down, as well as heating up my cpu. I think i will replace Dumpster with a different recycling bin app. Anyone have a suggestion, as dumpster is the only one I've used?

One rule of android.. Don't use apps like clean master.. They literally do nothing. Sure they clear ram but all the stuff that gets cleared comes right back..

What do you base this on? I've been using clean master for a while and I've gotten some good use out of its many features

Clean Master does more than RAM dump. It is a junk/cache/temp cleaner as well, although Android is capable of handling that itself as well. I never really considered the need for a recycling bin on Android. I mean, it's not likely that you'll accidentally delete something, unless it's accidentally on purpose. Dumpster doesn't really sound like anything more than a glorified cloud backup utility. Why not just use Google Drive, or Dropbox or something like that?

It can be hard to grasp, coming from a Windows environment, but Android/Linux has its own routines to manage RAM and temp files and cache. Unlike in Windows, Android/Linux benefits from having stuff sitting in RAM, and it does not hurt performance like you think. The most RAM cleaning you need to do can be accomplished from the Recent Apps screen by clicking the clear all button. All that 'good use' you're getting out of it is really just making the phone work harder.

That being said, I have SD Maid, but I use it very sparingly, mostly in cleaning up app caches and stuff before making a backup, or if I've uninstalled a bunch of apps, I use it to check to leftover bits and tombstones.

Android/Linux is extremely efficient at what it does...be a stable and effective operating system that requires very little user maintenance.

I use the cache cleaning the most, since I install and uninstall apps frequently.

I would suggest a different app though. Clean Master isn't really the best choice. Try SD Maid.
Clearing the cache doesn't do anything for cleaning up after uninstalling apps. Most apps clean up after themselves pretty well anyway. Clearing the cache is just making the phone redownload all the graphics/images/sounds/data for whatever apps they were for all over again the next time you run the app.

I'm confused. So when clean master says that it just freed up x amount of megabytes (usually I clear 100-250mb at a time or more) it actually isn't doing anything useful? I thought that meant it freed space, either internally or on the sd card, depending on where the app was stored

Clearing the cache every once in a while doesn't hurt, but everything else that app does is useless.

Just thought of another thing. I like how CM controls auto start apps, where as with rom toolbox, its talking about broadcast recievers. I have no doubt that the latter is more powerful, but i dont know how to use that, and im afraid i will break an app. Can you help me understand how to use the auto start manager on rom toolbox?

Most of the apps in the play store run the same way as Rom Toolbox, and after reading some app descriptions i have a better idea of what that is doing, so I guess I'm just sticking with rom toolbox.

Don't need an app to clear cache. It is built in to recent Android versions. Go into System Settings, select Storage, then tap Cached Data. It should prompt you to clear Cached data for all apps.

Yeah, i could do that clear cache. Or i could have a one tap shortcut with an app. If i understand correctly, android supposedly clears cache on its own even
