Android Forums is loaded with malware ads

I don't get malware but i do get some rather dodgy ads that, if i had kids, i wouldn't want them seeing if they were as interested in AF as i am. a few come up here and there on the sidebar advertising (yes, advertising) Hot Russian Singles or the like and the rest are snake oil schemes around since the late 1990s (and i thought long since died off) such as the acai berry diet scam or the common get rich quick scheme, or that annoying animated water bottle showing something like 'you can get over 90% off your car insurance by using this one neat trick' (which goes to some scam making you sign up for crap that will only scam your email inbox and give you nothing regarding the aforementioned trick) or the common 'Free iPad' mess

The more common ones i see lately are rather putrid and disgusting. i don't need to see someone's stomach worms thank you very much! (ad says something about 'you probably don't know what's hiding inside your stomach and shows a rather graphic photo)

They all seem to be from Google AdSense, which i am not familiar with myself, but i am assuming there are filters you can place to make such types of ads less common? I had to use Adblock Plus because the ads were that horrid to me at least.

on android problem doesnt seem to happen on dolphin browser
on pc windows 8.1 im using torchbrowser.i get ad redirects from other sites but this one im not experiencing anything whatsoever.eitheir this is specific to browsers and windows scripted or i just happen to strangly not be affected.so as i seem to not be able to recreate any of this,im not sure what to tell you.if it helps i live in florida.maybe its biased to floridians lol
then again like i said in a previous post my phone gives you a setting to opt out of ads,but mentions its google ads,so google is messed up maybe?idk just a hunch

Had my first redirect to the Play store from this site last night. It was for an antivirus app.

Using AD AWAY,haven't seen anything on my NOTE 4 (rooted running a Touch Wiz ROM,FWIW).
Only one strange pop-up (can't remember what app/browser I using at the time, earlier today).
It was a "petition" against VZW spamming, took up the entire screen,w/a bright red background.
I just ignored it,killed it,swiped sway, haven't seen anything odd since.

As for desktop, using CHROME exclusively,w/AD BLOCK PLUS,GHOSTERY & PRIVACY BADGER extensions keeping things clean,no malware/etc...... nothing out of the ordinary.

Yes, this would be far from the first time that whichever ad network(s) we use have started loading something dodgy.

Likewise, I can't replicate it on any of my devices on any thread, which is usually the case with problematic ads, as they seem to serve different ads to different countries and I'm in the UK.

Ads are definitely by country or region. I never see anything like the snake oil scams, fake virus, dating, pr0n, etc. I'm seeing ads for BMW Cars and JoeOne Menswear in the last few days on AF, and that's most certainly real products that I might want to buy.

....that's OK.

I'm getting live sex cams redirects and pictures of naked women so ya might want to consider ramping up the importance ladder. :)

Just got redirected to a "virus detected" page clicking on this thread. Can't believe there's no comment from admin on this yet...

I have been getting these adds on my mobile devices as well. I get them in most threads that I go to.

Edit: I understand that it is not just AF and that I is being worked on.

While it sucks this is happening on an "Android Help Forum" as others have noted this problem isn't limited to us. And ironically or not, Google is to blame. They recently suffered an Adwords exploit that has caused this issue.

Here's an article on the topic:
http://www.itproportal.com/2015/01/16/google-adwords-adsense-networks-hacked/

We're hoping Google has since fixed this issue but we'll continue to monitor. I would presume XDA and other sites are having the same issue and it is difficult to duplicate because you can't force the infected ads to show. We'll attack this on monday if google hasn't yet patched the problem.

I went through a few others too, but I couldn't grab the urls as the redirects were too fast. Again, this was opening this thread, after the jump to first unread. I had to get the links here via notepad as it killed my browser. I had to FC to get my mobile browser working again.

Also, this kept popping up (note, I have no AV on my phone).

wow a Trojan and a tapsnake.... wait that does not exist I'm pretty Shure that's fake or a virus is making that

well 10:49 pm on sunday and this problem still exists at the same level it did when I first reported it one week ago.
i look forward to hearing the results of the attack tomorrow.

Seems to be getting worse, not better. Getting redirects to the Play store on a regular basis...

I'm still not seeing any of this shit. It's still mostly ads for 5 star hotels and upscale menswear that I get from AF at the moment.

I usually block ads, but I've whitelisted AF for the moment in Ad Block.

this seems to be loaded onto certain apps too.lol speedtest uses the your infected ads that links to 360 antivirus software on the store
i wish ads didnt have to exist.most of them arent exactly hazardous as they are annoying

i may not use antiviruses but im pretty sure im not infected.the only infection is the stupid popup trying to get me to buy things.no redirects on websites so far tho but i clean my cache on a regular basis too so if it does try to infect, might be cache related and is gone when i close browser meh

I haven't had any issues myself or seen any complaints in a while so, I hope so too! One of our devs asked if they can close the ticket since they can't recreate it nor are seeing any more complaints on it.

Is it still happening to anyone?

I just opened this thread on my phone and was redirected to Big Fish Casino - Free Slots in Play.:(:maddroid:

Stock 2013 Moto X Android 4.4.4, non rooted, no adblock using Chrome.

Yah, but there have been occassions where we have been able to identify and exclude the offending ad. Not an easy task, though, not without excluding an entire ad network.

I think, I'm not all into the details on that..
