Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

What phone did she use?
I don't know, just a typical smartphone, it's on YouTube, check it out if you're curious. She gets on some dating app and a serial killer starts cyber stalking her. Victoria Justice is the girl. She used to be on Disney or Nickelodeon or something.

Well either way I don't think it's likely that someone could hack from a phone. Unless you have a desktop OS on that phone and that would just be a pain to use :D.

Remember when MTV firsr came out, with "Video Killed The Radio Star"? That was what it was meant for - not reality TV shows about pregnant teens - who just happen to be 'cutters' - while suffering from anorexia nervosa, and bulemia at the same time. Whining all the while... in the ubiquitous worry about ratings...

Yeah - let's provide our female teenage demographic with role models named Snooki.

mikedt, you and I both know that you only have one shot at being young, unpolluted and idealistic...

Eventually, cynicism takes over, and the proverbial rose is off the bloom - for good, unless you start a Botox regimen before age 21.

"I'm young - I'm wild, and I'm free - got the magic power of the music, in me..."

We didn't have cable, no MTV. Kid remembered the people from Sesame Street, and would watch other PBS programs.
I think her heroine was Sally Ride.

Everyone thought Mitnick could hack from a pay phone...

For all you youngsters out there, Kevin Mitnick was the big bad boogieman hacker back in the day... to hear the Feds and the media talk he was a one-man Anonymous.

Started to watch my usual weeknight classic TV schedule and in the MIDDLE of Andy Griffith (MeTV) they are showing ACC Basketball. I thought i had changed the channel by mistake since i was using the WatchON Remote app at the time, but it's the right channel, the WRONG program! Seriously, i already miss great westerns and Batman on Saturday because of basketball but this is the FIRST i've noticed it happening on a weeknight! Are the Globetrotters on or something? I checked the calendar, and it's not quite March yet...so i know it's no championship!

My last Chrome update puts the browser at 112 mB... due to my corrupted SD card, I uninstalled all of the updates, and I'm back to the stock browser... Lookout Antivirus noticed the change, and demanded an update of its own...

I want to replace this Jelly Bean nanny phone so badly... along with the carrier, too. This really stinks - LW

I never get bogged down with TV schedules, I watch what I want when I want, sports interruptions or no sports interruptions, news interruptions, etc. The NBA, CBA, KBA, Harlem Globetrotters, LA Lakers, Beijing Ducks, Seoul Gangnams, or whatever, never interrupts my favourite Japanese occupation soap operas.

What grinds my gears? Shady business practices! Suddenlink has been screwing me since I got set up. Oh, sign up for auto card payment, free installation. That was a lie. When I called them on it they said it would be credited back towards my account after being charged. Well that's not free, and it made my auto payment short, which made my next bill larger. Shady roosters... Just one of many issues they've given me...

Well, thanks to my Linux server, Plex, online sync and TiVo, i do have a canned, offline MeTV of sorts. just didn't plan on using it. it's got some wonky controls that i just don't want to play with ATM. What i don't get is that the game is shown on other channels as well. isn't it redundant to have it simulcast on so many local networks as if it's something seriously important that we have to see it? It's not a tornado warning, it's basketball! Quite frankly i wouldn't put it past 'em to have a tornado warning pre-empted by sports either.

That's our cable TV outlet, it's not hooked up, and no TV in the place.

Everything watched here is streamed or downloaded.

Was same I'm the UK as well, didn't have a TV there either.

I haven't watched live tv for a while, as we don't have cable and there's not much on local tv that I care for.

The occasional time I tune into something, I usually end up missing it because I moved from Utah to Nevada last year, and with that, I moved from MST to PST. So when I hear them say 8/7 central, my mind thinks 6. But in reality it's 5. :(

So....my roommate(who owns the house) has decided to take in a 20 year old kid who he used to have as a foster child. He'll be sleeping on our couch, is mentally handicapped, and is addicted to drugs.

Valuables and guns are securely locked away.

Well i used to have cable and satellite but MeTV is better than anything on those two. it's like TV Land before it turned to crap. i can't afford to stream too often unless it's on my Plex server because internet streaming will kill my data plan in hours. i don't have the benefit of a dedicated internet connection out here where i live, so it's either 4G LTE HomeFusion or that crap wireless provider that has this knack of dropping the internet whenever the weather gets cold or wet, and has horribly slow bandwidth other times

I usually keep Plex for times when the internet goes down. the UI is like Netflix and most shows i would watch on Netflix or on MeTV are on there. stored neatly on my server. probably a few seasons of Hogan's Heroes, Newhart (not to be confused with the crap Bob Newhart Show), Star Trek: The Next Generation, Odd Couple, Carol Burnett show, and movies such as the original Flight of the Phoenix and so on. tons of recorded stuff on TiVo, and endless videotapes (don't laugh! $1 movies can't be beat!) and a few DVDs of other shows and movies.

I bought a $1 movie once, it was called Harold. It's about a poor little 13 year old boy that has the male pattern baldness of a 55 year old man. And the habits, interests and mannerisms of a 70 year old man. Best. Purchase. Ever. Cuba gooding Jr. plays the creepy janitor, and does it SO well! Gets me laughing good every time :)

Most of the $1 VHS movies I buy are those that either no one remembers, or cannot be purchased on Amazon, Google Play, or seen on Netflix or Vudu. Such as a childhood favorite, the original 1972 Charlotte's Web movie.

At my regular job (business office, all adults aged 25+) :
  • In the women's restroom, sometimes people leave water all over the counter in front of the sink, & if you don't see it & your shirt touches the counter, you get all wet. I can't understand why adults can't clean up after themselves.
  • In the unisex restroom, someone can't seem to pee IN the bowl, sometimes there's pee on the front of the seat &/or bowl & even on the floor right in front of it. Again... these are adults...

At my p/t job:
  • Impatient customers who get pissy if they have to wait 30 seconds for us to ring up their purchases.
  • Customers who, when they pay in actual cash, can't be bothered to HAND the money to you, they set it down on the counter instead.
  • Customers who take every item out of their shopping basket & hand them to me one at a time, instead of just setting the basket down. I've even had people try to do this with an entire cart of groceries...
  • Customers who plunk their items down on top of the grocery scanner, so things start scanning just by being there. We get tracked for how quickly we scan their groceries, & when they do this, they're screwing up our timings.

What was that someone said a few pages back? People are annoying!! [emoji14]

(I'm glad I don't have any annoying habits... LOL!)

I once found a turd sitting on the floor next to the toilet in the mens' room at work. I don't work at Chuck-E-Cheese either. This is an accounting firm. Who the hell is doing this!?

Also, I mentioned in a prior post that we now have my roommate's former foster son living with us who is mentally handicapped. He's 20, but mentally he's about 8 or 9 maybe. He just goes in and pisses all over the toilet....GRRRRRRRR.

Perhaps he missed the target, and didn't want to touch it? :)

..... let's just say I'm well used to seeing things like that.
