Help The google app icon

Hello,

Can someone please tell me what the "Google App" in my android phone is for? I want to disable it to save memory consumption but not sure if I should or not.

Depending on your preferences, it goes to Google Now or just search.

I set mine to just search, does nothing until I do as I recall.

Hi

It does google search, voice search and google now - the info cards that appear based on your recent activity. Try disabling it - if you dont like the result, enable it again.

Nah, there's nothing there for me.

I disable Now, just use it for the occasional voice search.

Well since it recently learned how to understand south/West Glasgow dialect, its novelty value has gone through the roof for me and I'm even starting to find it useful.
