Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] DEODEXED Silent Camera

Tested the V6 version with silent video. You nailed it! I have the original backed up if I come across issues, but I haven't noticed any yet. I still have A Better Camera as that has some exposure options that the stock app doesn't have. Still, this is great to have. Thanks for tweaking the stock app. :)
 
Go to Settings > About phone > Software information

Read the Software version line.

LS720V5: use the V5 version.

LS720V6: use the V6 version.

If you're using V6, backup both the camera apk AND the camera odex file in a safe place. Try using a folder on your external SD to back up the original files. Do the same if you are on V5.

Thanks for your help. I checked and I'm on V6. I tried to install it using the Android Package Installer and it simply says "Application not installed". I've enabled installation of 3rd party apps so I don't know why I wouldn't allow it...
 
Does this also work for v7 on stock ROM, rooted?

EDIT: No, it does not. I have the same problem as above, it just says the app cannot be installed.
 
Can someone add a v7 apk? I don't have a PC currently or I would do it myself.

I'm using the v6 version with silent video on a rooted v7 install. The v7 update on my F3 is xclusive36's modded version.

Might take some work, but you should be able to download and install the apk without a PC. Download it to a folder on your phone, then using a file manager with root privileges, unzip it, then move the apk to /system/app. If you have the odexed zip, also move the odex file to /system/app. Reboot the phone, then look for it under the app drawer. Make a link to your home screen, or the bottom bar.
 
Hi SodaYodaDude, do you still have these files anywhere? I want to use it with my F3. Recently turned it back on, and using it again as my daily driver (for at least a week anyway, need to see how the phone holds up). Otherwise I might have one of them on my external HD, probably the v6 odex IIRC.

I deleted them a while ago, I switched phones. I'll try and remake it though if you can send me the camera apk.

I tried installing it. That didn't work, so I also tried dropping it in. Also, the download I got was tiny, about 86 kb, instead of the 3 MB of the normal one. Am I missing something? Oh wait.... went to look on a PC just now. It's listed as the right size! I'll d/l it from there and try again! My bad.
 
Got the right download. It's working now on deodexed V8, both silent camera and video. Thanks again for the help! :)
