Help Yahoo Messenger app killing battery after Lollipop upgrade

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 on the Virgin Mobile network. My phone just upgraded to Lollipop and now the Yahoo Messenger app is killing my batter life. The battery usage shows it has used 35% today!!! That's ridiculous. I only used it for a few messages. Prior to lollipop the usage for that app would be only 3-4%. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions or suggestions?? Thanks in advance for everyone's help!!!

Cool, usually I'd recommend a factory reset so all the apps are reinstalled but since its only one app, a single app i hope this works
