Help New sound after Lollipop update

markdoc

Android Expert
I have an HTC One M8 with Android 5.0.1 from Verizon.
I updated to Lollipop this afternoon. Since then a new sound keeps going off and I don't know why. It sounds like a low flat single guitar string twang. It might be a notification, but I checked and that isn't the Notification sound that I have in my settings. As far as I can tell I don't have it set anywhere and I cannot find it anywhere on my phone. Any help on what it could be would be appreciated.
Thanks,

How often is it occurring? Identifying a sound can be pretty time consuming. Start by checking these few things:
First:
-Settings -> Sound -> Pull to refresh sounds

If that doesn't work..
-Disable NFC

If that doesn't work set notification sounds to silent -Settings -> Sound -> Notification sounds >scroll up to silent

Let us know what works so we can troubleshoot further if needed.

It happens about once or twice an hour. Whenever I hear it, I check the Notification area but usually nothing has the immediate time stamp. I had already changed the notification sound and disabled NFC. I changed the Notification sound to silent before writing this reply but the sound occurred while I was writing this. Thanks for your help. I await your instructions.

If that doesn't work either we need to see what apps are running and isolate the trouble app. This is the hard part because it can take a long time

I don't have a setting named "Interruptions" under the heading "Sounds & Notifications. My phone is from Verizon, you may have a different carrier. That's the only thing I can think of that would cause different settings. Am I missing something? If there's nothing else but searching my various apps, I can manage that without wasting your time. I appreciate your help and thank you again. If you think of anything else, I'm all ears. (3 more twangs while writing this)

Thanks again Solapathy for your help. I found out what it was. I was browsing the settings looking for changes. I found the setting under "Accessibility" called "Notification Reminder". I don't think it's new and I believe I had it turned on before the update. Maybe the sound was changed because it doesn't diesfollow my "Notification" sound. I can't find a way to set it. When I changed the interval so did the twang. I am curious about "Interuptions" setting.
That's it,

I have Lollipop 5.01 on Verizon HTC One M8 as well, and I don't have the Interruptions setting. Even though I see that feature as one the main additions to Lollipop.
I wonder if it is disabled for Sense.

I'm running completely stock Lollipop 5.0.1, Sense 6.0 on my Verizon One M8. I have the option.

Thanks to the OP for finding this option. It's something I had always wished I had.

Is there anything anyone can think of that would be responsible for some Verizon M8s having "Interruptions" and others not? What does it do?
Last, hasn't anyone else heard this "Notification" alert? It can't just be me, can it? o_O
