First off, it never claimed that it was for that. It said that it was to help you to see how your storage was used. Not why your apps don't work, not how to email, root your phone or anything else.

Secondly, that's an app issue if you can't write to your SD card.

If you have apps not designed to write to SD card, then they're not going to it.

If you're on KitKat then the restriction is that apps can only write to folders that they create and own.

Rooting and changing the KitKat SD card permission only goes so far, it won't cure everything.

Some apps won't write to folders that they know they don't own even if you change permissions.

so u wanna say i cant download 4gb game becouse my storage too low and sd card is usseles?:(
Not necessarily ok.

How that 4 GB gets distributed is up to the game developer.

If they're smart, they'll give a two part installer. First one is the smaller part for the reserved /data area. It fetches the huge second part and places it on the sd card.

Unfortunately, some developers do not think in such a way. They think that everyone has a big /data expensive superphone and they just want to drop everything in the reserved area.

It makes faster game play.

But it's not fair for everyone.

So, the answer really depends on the nature of the individual app.

There is a root modification called Link2SD - only try it with caution and only after talking to others who really know the procedure - and only if you can root safely.

It makes a sort of trade so a part of your larger sd card can become the reserved /data area and therefore give you a big size boost.

It does not fix 100% of big app install problems but probably does fix most.

okay for example i have 2 eternal disks. one is 1 gb 2nd is 4 gb and then 16gb sd card. but if it says 'game is on sd' so for real its on 2nd eternal 4gb disk but not in sd

I am not surprised.

Your Android is like mine.

On every Android, the storage areas have folder names.

The 4 GB of storage is shared by two processes.

It is physically one thing. But it has more than one folder name for the one storage area.

Windows does not do this. Linux does. Android does.

One folder name for the 4 GB is /data.

Another folder name for the 4 GB is /sdcard.

Because of the software process permissions, if you are in the /data folder, you can not see what is in the /sdcard folder and vice versa.

So you can use 1 GB of /data and 3 GB of /sdcard. Or 2 GB and 2 GB. Or 3 GB and 1 GB.

If you move things from one folder to another, you don't gain anything - it's all still in the same 4 GB storage space.

Just as you discovered.

It is not really an SD card - but one folder is called /sdcard.

That is standard.

Your real sd card has another name. The name is not standard. It is maybe called /sdcard2 or /ext_sd or something like that.

Moving apps to sd card was invented when the storage was small and there was no sharing. In those days, /sdcard always meant the physical sd card.

So the process to move to /sdcard did a real move.

Today, it's not a real move to the real sd card.

It's just changing the folder inside one storage area.

The only way to change it to do a physical move is with the Link2SD process I mentioned.

Also GL to SD which is more suitable for games with large data files-
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slf.ListglApp

Note that the free version of Link2SD can only move the actual app files, it does not move data. To also move the app data files you need the Pro (paid) version and also your SD partitions must be in "ext" format and not "FAT". The app description in the Play store explains all of this.

Ok you hadn't mentioned that it wasn't rooted. I suppose we should have pointed out that root is a requirement to be able to use these apps.
Unfortunately we don't have any device-specific forums for this unit so there is likely no root for it. In that case you are out of luck with using the external storage for apps.

hi again, so i have other problem with storage:) i have 100mb app storage and 1gb data storage and i cant update any app becouse "there is not enough space" but what the hell if update need only 2-3 mb?:( im so sad and angry

You never told us what device you have.
Generally once available space gets below a certain amount you will get the "insufficient space" warning when you attempt to install any additional apps. If you aren't able/willing to root your device (or if there is no available root for it) then there isn't much you can do.

in post #15 i sayed:) i want to root but cant find normal rooting tutorial step by step which works:(

Ah ok I see you did identify the device there.
Anyway without root you have no way to use the apps we mentioned. All you can really do is go through your installed apps and remove any that you don't use, also clear cache files which can get pretty large over time.
