Root HTC one m8 no operating system?

I flashed the Google Play Edition rom (Verizon) to my phone and reset it and went back into recovery and accidentally wiped everything again. I now have nothing on my internal memory, no external SD card available. and when i load up my phone it gets stuck on the green HTC screen with red text saying it's a private recovery (I have TWRP installed)

I checked and as of the time of this post i am UNLOCKED with S-OFF. absolutely nothing on my internal memory, no external. I can STILL access bootloader/custom recovery but nothing else. How can I get the GPE rom back onto my phone to flash or how can i go back to stock? please help!

your problem sounds similar to this thread.

Do you have a microsd card? If so, connect it to your computer and place the rom on there, then you can install the rom by navigating to ext memory (or sd card).

Thread moved to root forum.

Get a proper rom for Verizon - I know that ViperOneM8 will work - and download it to the same folder where you have adb installed.

Go into TWRP (you're using TWRP?) and mount your SD card.

Connect to PC, open a command window to where you have adb and -

adb push name-of-your-rom.zip /sdcard

Install rom.

And this also suggests that you're flashing without making a nandroid backup first.

Do that from now on before you flash things.

Avoid any RUU except as a last resort - Verizon RUUs are exactly that, a last resort - and you don't need to do that here.

I was able to push the ROM back to my phone through ADB and install it. The ROM worked fine, I discovered the problem was I accidentally wiped everything including internal storage where my ROM and nandroid backup was. All good On this issue now though thank you everybody for your help

Slow down compadre.

Do you know what version of TWRP you have?

Are you s-on?

What carrier are you on?

How/why did you choose that RUU?

And it's late, so I have to warn you that I won't be able to finish this tonight.

But depending on what you need to do, we can help get it sorted out.

ok i dont know what twrp i have 2. it says s-off 3.verizon 4. well a bunch of forums said this was the orginal verzon.....not a problem just looking for some kind of answer

OK, so with s-off, you have a number of options.

Can you provide the hboot photo?

Or get fastboot if you don't have it already -

http://androidforums.com/threads/adb-guide-updated-2014-11-11.443072/#post-5389081

From TWRP, reboot to fastboot.

Plug phone into pc - it will say FASTBOOT USB.

Shift+right click folder containing fastboot to get a command window. In it, say -

fastboot getvar all

Tell me what it says.

In the command window, alt+right click to get a menu, E to Edit, Select all, repeat to copy, paste into post here.

EDIT out any MEID value, it's private.

That's all I can do tonight, sorry.

Btw - are you trying to update, or return to stock, or just get it running?

ok whats the hboot photo and i can get it to plug into fastboot usb but nothing comes up on my computer sorry i dont know alot about this stuff so bare with me now when you say shift + right click folder containing fastboot how do you do that like i said when i plug my phone into my computer if doesnt load or register on the computer (like right now its plug in the computer it says fastboot usb on my phone but i dont have any way to browse what would be on my phone like pics mmusic or files.)(i know there is no pics or anything on the phone just saying) the only options it gives me from recovery is Hboot, RamDump, Reboot,Reboot FastBoot, and Power Down

EarlyMon just meant can you post a photo of the bootloader screen - thats the screen with white background you're looking at that says FASTBOOT USB when plugged in to your pc - so we can see the relevant details.

Did you download and install the mini sdk tools from the link, and set it up on your pc? The rest of the instructions relate to using cmd prompt window on your pc, and executing the fastboot command:

fastboot getvar all

And then posting the results returned in the cmd prompt window here, scrubbing out your IMEI number first.

None of this is done on or using your phone, or connecting your phone when working via mtp mode - that you might have setup to automatically open an Explorer window.

We need to check some details of your system, so take your time and do the above. Don't be tempted to try anything else, be patient and we will get you back up and running.

(Also, not being smart but a few lines breaks and full stops would help with reading your posts )

ok the no operating system went away but now it says "your device does not appear to be rooted intsall supersu now? this will root your device" but im pretty sure my phone is rooted how do i go about this

Okay.

Rather than try to find out what you're actually doing or get answers to the original questions, let me recommend this.

The RUU that all of the websites told you to get is wrong.

We know that you're on Verizon and have s-off.

I suggest that you use the OPTION 2 (App/EXE) and take your phone to Lollipop using the correct RUU.

Here's the link with instructions -

http://androidforums.com/threads/htc-one-m8-no-operating-system.863572/#post-6912267

Get the App/EXE version, do as he says exactly.

Best luck!

Ok - last I heard your firmware is out of date and it's only sort of working.

You need updated firmware for things to work right.

Run the RUU.

Get TWRP again. Get Venom 4.3 if that's what you want.

Hi, I'm having this issue here with my phone. I was trying to convert my One M8 (GSM, unlocked and S-Off) to GPE but ended in bootloop mode. I've tried flashing the RUU in recovery mode(TWRP) but it kept saying "Unable to mount '/system".

Fastboot u might need :

./fastboot getvar all

(bootloader) version: 0.5

(bootloader) version-bootloader: 3.19.0.0000

(bootloader) version-baseband: 1.22.21331147A1.29G

(bootloader) version-cpld: None

(bootloader) version-microp: None

(bootloader) version-main: 3.32.708.4

(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-OFF

(bootloader) serialno:

(bootloader) imei:

(bootloader) imei2:

(bootloader) meid: nope nope nope

(bootloader) product: m8_ul

(bootloader) platform: hTCBmsm8974

(bootloader) modelid: 0P6

(bootloader) cidnum: GOOGL001

(bootloader) battery-status: good

(bootloader) battery-voltage: 0mV

(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT

(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: a3d0cb0d

(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11

I'm still not giving up on the process of converting it to GPE. What do you suggest me to do at this point? Thanks so much in advanced buddy.

Ok, are you sure you want to do a full conversion? - you can just flash a GPE rom to try it first, like SkyDragon GPE for example it works fine on Sense firmware. Just checking, as it's not straightforward converting back to Sense if you decide to do that.

Full conversion to GPE involves using GPE specific firmware with different partition size layouts - and you therefore cannot flash a firmware conversion zip through recovery. I would recommend that you read this thread on xda:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708589

and also read the thread on converting back to Sense that is linked in post 2, before proceeding.

Where did you get that GPE conversion zip from? If it were me I would download and use one of the RUU zips from the xda thread as well.
