Help New to Lollipop - Unknown System Icon

Hi all

First post here and first time with an android phone!

I've got a Sony Xperia z3 compact and I've had it for almost a week now. Today a new system icon popped up and I can't figure out what it is. I've attached a screenshot and hopefully someone will be able to tell me what it is!

I think (?) that's NFC (near field communication)
The option to turn that off should be under settings, wireless and networks, more

NFC Stands for Near Field Communications.

You can use it as a quick way to transfer content from one device to another, pair other devices (smartwatches), contactless payment etc.

Just make sure it's switched on on both devices and touch the backs of each device together. If you've a photo open in the gallery app, it will display a message asking if you want to send the picture to the 2nd device.
