I bought it at Walmart. It came in a pkg that included a USB adapter and SD adapter. It's made by a company called gigastone the packaging says Dane Mobile Junkie 3-in-1 mobile kit. It says the SD card can be used for smartphones and tablets. Maybe I just got a bad one.Where did you buy the SD? Might be worth testing it on another device like a PC, to ensure it's ok, and not duff or fake.

I put the sd card in an old Huawei Mercury phone that I used to have. It works fine in that phone. Then I took the sd card from the old phone and put it in my new phone. And it worked! I only bought the new sd card because it was a 16GB. The old one is only 4GB. I guess I can live with it for a little while. Is it recognised when plugged into a computer using the USB adaptor? If not then it's most likely faulty; if it is then the problem may be with the microSD slot on the phone.
I'm pretty sure that the 4GB I took out of my old phone and put in the z-max is a SanDisk. It worked. And the 16GB worked in my old phone. But thank you.I work at Walmart and at our particular store we don't carry that brand of microSD. There are a few of my fellow associates that have the ZTE Z Max and they use Sandisk with no problem. Try a more industry standard card. If that does not solve it then as Slug said it could be you SD card slot. Good luck.
Scan disk is the best in my opinionI just bought my zte z-max and purchased a sd card separately. The sd card is a 16 G sdhc. I installed the card on my phone but the phone is not recognizing it. When I go to storage it says mount sd card. Help!
