Help How do i disable the most recently viewed page when i open a new tab using the internet app?

RaeRae918

Omg it's driving me crazy...i hate that it shows where I've been every single time i open a new tab. I've went all through the internet settings. Idk if I'm missing it or if it's not an option. I know if i delete my internet history it goes away, but i don't want to delete the history every time. Please someone help me!!

I guess "Internet" is your default browser, but which device do you have (because manufacturers use different default browsers)?

If there is no setting, use a different browser. I'm currently using Firefox and NB Pro as my main browsers, and neither does that - new tabs open as blank pages. In fact I can't think of any browser I've used where a new tab opens with the last page I viewed (I think I've met one where a new window opened with a list of recent pages, but there was an option to turn that off).

I have both the "Internet" and "Chrome". I'm just so used to using the Internet one, that when i try using chrome i can't figure it out...lol... an my device is through Cricket Communications. It's an
LG D-321. My phone before was the Galaxy S4. I also used the Internet one on there and it never did that. Which makes me think it's a setting some where with in the phone. I can't even long press on them to delete them...i have to erase my internet history.
Ughh

I have another question too. I'm obsessed with all my music tags having to be correct, as far as artist, title, album. I had Galaxy s4 and you couldn't edit them at all. You could go in your files and change them, but it didn't seperate the title from the song or album. Does that make sense? Lol
I've been editing my music like this for about 2-3 months and now it jus decided it didn't want to. It says
details edited but nothing changes it was on my SD card so i put it on my device storage still didn't change. Any ideas?? Please?

Like Hadron said, every manufacturer uses different stock browsers.

If you go to settings> Apps > All and click on browser, what does it say under app version?

And yeah I hate chrome too.
Lol

I remember in an older version of chrome that option was available to do away with recent tabs when chrome is opened, well that option seems to have disappeared now lol

Is your chrome up to date? Mine doesn't do recent tabs anyway.

Edit

Ignore all that's been said, notice you're talking about stock Internet app [emoji5]

On some I've used that's showed recent tabs on opening, it's had a small x or - by the tab, presuming it's not giving you that?

Right, that's what i meant :)

I can't really find any info about LG stock " Web " browser , but there might be a way to change its new tab page.
If not all you fan do is switch to a different browser or live with it

U know...surprise surprise...i have another issue...i wasn't going to bring a 3rd one up lol...but my phones ******** and has less than 3gb internal storage well the OS itself takes over a g not to mention all the dumb ass apps that i don't even use takes almost 1.5g i basically have nothing but my 32gb sd....here's the deal. I'm trying to DL an app via Google Play Store, but it keeps failing because of insufficient memory. There is yet to be found a location where u can make the apps automatically DL to the SD card. Everything on my phone is on there already.

⬆⬆⬆ now ALL of that ⬆ was just for me to say i went to Chrome going through it to look for my other prob lol i seen some where in the settings i can't remember exact wording but basically opening most visited, i clicked on it And it looked jus like it does on my "Web" now, EXCEPT i can long press and then remove them from Chrome...either one by one or all of em at tha same time... but nooo not for "Web" lol....

OK , DS95 back me up on this;
KitKat cannot read/ write apps from the SD card.
All previous version of Android has this ability but for some reason it was removed in 4.4.
If you need more space in your internal storage and dont have root access, you can disable apps that you don't use.
Disable a few of those bloatware apps from the factory and that will clear up a lot of space

Correct, I was thinking Google did away with apps 2 SD before 4.4 but regardless only way to free up any kind of space without being rooted is disabling a lot of those useless bloat apps.

We have a lot of different questions in play now ;).

The stock browser is manufacturer-specific, so the reason it behaves differently is that it's a different browser in your current phone. Unfortunately I have no experience with LG, so don't know whether there is a setting to change this. I might add that I also dislike Chrome ;).

Moving apps to SD was deprecated way back in 4.0 (though some manufacturers added it back to some of their devices). In fact only 2.2 and 2.3 supported it, and even then it only moved part of the app.

Pre-installed apps live in a different storage partition, so removing them wouldn't give you more space even if you could. What is worth doing is uninstalling any updates to those you don't use, clearing their data and then disabling them. Updates and data share space with your apps, so eliminating these then disabling to ensure they don't return will free some space.

Ok weleyow i can just go and enable them back up.....but i really really dnt wanna mess with apps that i don't actually knw about...lol and its sad but its my music and music downloaders that I'm really not wanting to mess up...I'd cry if i did something that deleted all the album cover art the album name research...
⬇⬇so on this pic i attached...it's almost 25mb for Drive...well they all over 20gb except one.,.can i do it to these without messing up much or anything? Do you guys use Drive? Isn't it like a file manager basically. U can upload stuff offline,..never used it though just heard

Wow.....that makes perfect sense...u made it sound so simple...And actually it is lol. Ok so how do i figure out if Chrome or Web is my default browser? Its probably Chrome because i hate it lol. Say it is, will using the preferred browser be worth dealing with Chrome? Is it normal to have two different options...i didn't DL either one of them. And really what's the diff? My brother uses Mozilla or something in that sort lol

Ok...as we all know I'm having a prob modifying my mp3 tags all of a sudden. Someone suggested this app. I got it And I'm trying to move it to my SD card. I've done this a million times...why isn't it not letting me do anything...i haven't even used it yet?

No i wasn't referring to either one specifically...tommy2tone told me to go to my apps, and go to browser and see what version i have...but i don't have a "browser" app. I have "Chrome" and "Web" both came on my phone. I'm not sure which one is stock.

I have "Chrome" and "Web" both came on my phone. I'm not sure which one is stock.

I would say that "Web" is your stock browser. My HTC M7 came with "Internet" and "Chrome". "Internet" is HTC's stock browser, and neither were uninstallable, although nothing remains constant - my M9 came with "Chrome" only, uninstallable, with HTC's "Internet" now available from Playstore for download, which is one of the first things I did as it is far and away my favourite browser.

Both Chrome and Internet browsers have a 'Homepage' setting - I set mine to www.Google.com and new tabs open to the Google search bar. The Internet browser has a number of options, one of which is 'Blank page' as in Hadron's earlier post. I also have Dolphin and it too has a 'Homepage' setting.

Your "Web" browser may have the same/similar setting ;).

Do you have any settings for what page it opens a new tab or window on? That's what I'd look for in the browser's settings (I know that's what it was on the browser I used to use that did something similar - I just set it to open on a blank page rather than recent or most viewed or whatever). I'd have guessed it would at least give the option to start a new page on a bookmark list.

If there is nothing anywhere in the settings then installing another browser is the remaining answer (perhaps not welcome if you are fighting for space).
