Pay close attention I'm only saying it once IMA toss u the links u will need for root first of all u will need the update zip when ur done downloading it place it on the root of ur SD card hold the power and down volume at the same to get into stock recovery select the update zip u downloaded flash it so u will return back to b04 once instslled reboot device second rootmaster down load it open it up hit root center button allow it to take action then hit root again last hit batal then manually reboot ur device profit

And I highly recommend that u go with a kitkat ROM or lollipop cm 12 for a better android experience

Do you need a sd card to do this? I just got the zte awe and have never rooted before I really want to root it but it seems a little confusing sorry for being a noob

A can not parse file message usually means the apk is corrupted (download it again).
i tried downloading it again and installing it with the system installer and total commander still wont parse i have tried both curtis's method and roadkills witch seem to work for all other virgin n800's so im wondering could it just be my phone?

U on stock ROM right if so there is a ROM u can down load and in stall with stock recoveries which will root and put a customs recoveries on for u

yes i am on stock rom. i did load zte update in this thread but as far a i know that just put me back to factory. do you have a linkfor the custom recovery with root?

The zip suppose to throw u back to b04 so u can root ur device its just a stock ROM update zip nothing custom
that process would ha e workes for me but the root apk i downloaded isnt parsing, thats happened to a few of my downloads. the program just isnt there the only thing that ends up on my sd card is a 2kb folder thats says its the apk

I tried 4 different methods to root my device and all of them failed. Finally I found a method that worked for me. It's a little annoying because you have to download the android SDK tools.
