Help Evo 3D stuck on full brightness

I have an Evo 3D I rooted and all that and now I am running SOS rom and I noticed today my brightness is stuck on 100% no matter what I set it to. It's definitely not a rom issue because the leedroid status bar brightness tweak used to work like a charm but it doesn't anymore, neither does my normal settings, nor my power control widget. It is also making it hard to get a decent charge on my phone. I did mess with some capacitative button values to get them to stop lighting up but even when I changed them back it wasn't doing anything. Yes I have tried all troubleshooting ideas except for factory reset, there is no way in hell I wanna go through all the trouble of setting up my masterpiece again. I just need my brightness to work and I'll be eternally satisfied.

I saw some people decompiling system apps like Framework-res.apk to calibrate the brightness settings but it seems as if I don't have the values folder in the app so I had no array.xml to adjust...

Have you tried dirty flashing the rom again? (just flash, clear cache and dalvik, not data)
I don't really want to because I got it perfectly setup, the sos 2.0 rom has some issue where i needed to replace the playstore with a modded one to make that and some other google apps works. I also modded my whole ui, I did however found that Rootdim works to lower my brightness, I just wish i could do the same with my power widget.

PS off topic but when the 1st kitkat roms came out for my old gs3 my pet hate was that they hadn't fixed the option to turn off the capacitive button lights grr

ikr lol ended up using an app that turns off the galaxy buttons upon boot cuz renaming the file didnt work but the app did.
Can you take a moment to inform me on what exactly a dirty flash is? I'm still trying to get the hang of using roms tbh. will apps still be there? like my moto launchers and modded playstore?

Yup a dirty flash just means going into recovery and flash the rom again without doing any wipes so all your apps, settings ect will still be there. It just reflashes the raw OS
What recovery are you using?
