Yes I use Internet SharingDang it I was really hopping that I could get rid of my DSL. Oh well I pay 19.99 per month for DSL.
Does anyone know if you can teather Sprint phones without a charge for internet connect to your laptop.
Wonder how he got his hands on thatDefinitely will be keeping tabs on that thread!
Here's a video he did
YouTube - Another EVO video

Just FYI -- the video was pulled from the user!! I think he made a video and wasn't suppose too!!![]()

WOW it got yanked?!

WOW it got yanked?!
I never got any answers to this the first two times I posted so here it goes again.
I can't believe we haven't seen a lot more videos or pics of the Evo "in the wild". Usually by now some employee will post a twit pic or make a youtube video. Do you think we might see an influx of these, almost a viral campaign after the 12th?
No, it could be there, but not disclosed. To lie that it was not there and be found by the fcc later, that is criminal.Do you mean the laser I thought that HTC might be adding as a surprise to the Evo is not there? Maybe they don't want to list it so kids don't find it.![]()
Yeah and we also pay 400k for 1100 sq ft houses, we do it to ourselves by being greedy out here and over charging for property and everything else, makes the costs of everything go up and then it costs more to support the state because everything is so expensive. Not only that but our "honest" business owners like to hire undocumented workers for cheap labor so these generous owners can put even more money into their already overly full pockets, greed is what's messing up this state and making our taxes be what they are, well that and our property taxes are too low compared to what we pay for the homes.
Just to put this back on topic, GO EVO! lol
the charge, if there is one, will be for the hotspot function onlyOkay so it this "charge" going to be for the phones "router" capability or is it going to be for "4g only"

i replied to you in the other thread but u deleted it, but i think it would be good if you get 2 spares and a battery charger so you can have one spare on you while the other is at home charging.I'm seriously considering getting this charger, for emergency purposes. Has anybody ever tried it that can explain exactly how it works exactly? Does it mean that I'll need to carry around a small cable also? It says that it's compatible with the EVO 4G already.
Solio Mono Hybrid Charger - Item # PGU5688Q_C
Sprint - All Accessories
Excuse my ignorance but is that the "internet/router" function?
If it is then why do they not charge for the phone to be hooked up directly to the laptop?
Simple answer: Yes.
As to why they don't charge for the wired hook up, they do if you use it enough and it adds up pretty quickly. There's a 5GB cap per month on the usage and you'll be hit with a hefty fee if you go over that.
they have an app like that for android...you need to root your phone thoStill, the network can handle it and many people use Wimax already for their laptops and home internet service. I think if anything it is more of a marketing thing. It is seen as a premium feature so they can charge for it. The Wimax network won't suffer from the lack of bandwidth you see on the 3G networks.
Either way, there are 3rd party applications and tweaks that are either free or cheap that allow you to do this sort of thing. Windows Mobile has had a program called WMWifiRouter available for at least 2+ years and it allows you to share out your 3G connection over your Wifi radio. Hopefully someone writes similar applications for this phone. I think they will just have to figure out how to bridge the Wimax and Wifi radios the way they did with the EVDO and Wifi radios. Once some enterprising dev does that, you will be able to do it just fine if you prefer that to Sprint's commercial option.
Thankfully I only need it 5 or 6 times a year when I am not around Wifi so I probably won't pay for it monthly but rather use an app that you buy once or just root and set it up myself one someone comes up with a way to do it.
