Help After factory reset - cannot add my Google account to phone

I have an old LG model# VM670. I think it was also called the LG Optimus V.

Anyway I want to use it at work for Google Play to listen to my library with all my music.

I have 2-step verification turned on my google account, but when I add that account to the phone (with the proper password - trust me ive tried 10 times now) - it doesn't prompt me to enter a code (the SMS you get with a new device). Also I don't receive a SMS at all. The message I get is:

Sorry...

Your username and password do not match. Please try again.

(To recover your account....)

It is connected to WiFi, and I can sign into my account using the browser.

Also I was successful in creating a brand new google account, and logging into the Market (which became the Play Store). I can install apps, and have installed Play Music. But all this is associated with a dummy google account for now.

I found two pages that I thought would help but did not resolved my issue. Also I cannot post the URLs to those pages in this thread b/c it is my first post and cannot post URLs.

The device is not rooted.

Android Version: 2.2.1 (says up-to-date)

Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9

I solved my own issue after thinking about this a little more. Ha.

Basically if you have this issue, you need to create an 'App Password' for your device.

In a modern web browser when you're logged into your Primary Google Account, visit this URL, and select 'Other' and give it a name.

Use the password that it generates for you, and the device should work.
 
The best thing for you to do is root. Then you can flash the appropriate GAPPS for the version on Android you're running. GAPPS stands for Google Apps which is the official Google apps package plus any additional settings to go with them. All your Google stuff will work seamlessly after that.

Ummmm... Gapps came with that phone and the password problem was solved ok. ;) :)
 
Cool. That's good. I've had that problem with my old HTC One V running PacMan & Slimbean. I had to change the password & security protocols using my PC, more than once! Hate that part of being "Android"!
