Help Phone randomly had lines on it

I opened up my phone after a text message and i was shown RGB lines (a pixel wide) of vertical lines on my screen. I couldnt see past them and at the bottom of my phone it was white but reflecting the top part of my screen somehow. I didnt drop it it just became like this, So how is this possible? I was on the couch and it was safely in a couch holder ( It didnt touch anyone/anything). I tried to snapshot it but it looks normal! it must be a outside problem. Any ideas?

If the lines are not showing on screen-shots, but visible when you're looking at the screen, yeh that's a hardware screen problem for sure. You don't have to actually impact a phone for a screen to have problems, these things can just happen and develop faults, like with any electronics, e.g. lines, dead areas, stuck pixels, etc.

How old is the phone, what is it, make and model? If it's recent, then might be under warranty, if it's more than a probably a couple of years ago or is a budget one, basically it could be time for a new phone. Depending on the phone, replacement screens might be rather expensive, e.g. Samsung AMOLEDs can be around $200-300 bucks USD.

If it didn't show in a screenshot then you're right, it's a hardware fault :(
Did you get it wet at all over the past few months and has it happened again since?
