Help S4 Active update

Hello,

I recently purchased an s4 active from a friend. She said it was an international phone(whatever that means) I noticed I'm still running 4.2.2 and figured there was a newer version, but it says the phone is up to date. The phone came from AT&T and I'm running on Cricket. Any suggestions? I've been reading about rooting, but I dunno if that's the best way to go..

I'd Google what the latest version released for that phone
If it is due an update download the Samsung Kies software to your pc, plug the phone in and it should update it
