I will test both for you @SuperR, and let you know what the results are, I currently have your new 2.8.7.0 installed right now so I'll start with that one after I download v2-5

Edit: I'm on the XT1526 Boost Mobile LTE variant :)

SuperR, you Da Man. I was searching around, scratching my head, trying to make sense of some of the stuff out there and BAM!!! I find this thread, so simple, so easy. Thank you very much.

I've tried several recoverys for my surnia but they all fail to flash.
I get the following output when attempting to flash.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

fastboot flash recovery_twrp_2870.img
target reported max download size of 299892736 bytes
sending 'recovery' (11694 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.384s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) Image size exeeded partition limits
(bootloader) Preflash validation failed
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.410s
The bootloader output looks like this:

Any help would be very helpful. Thanks.

If you are entering the command you typed in your post it is not correct. Please check the OP for the correct fastboot command. Also make sure your bootloader is unlocked.

Hi SuperR, I have a question/request wrt to crypto support:

I am trying to get some data from an encrypted partition of my moto e 2015,
[sad story, short version: stupid me]

$ sudo fastboot boot surnia_twrp_2870.img

and then

$ adb shell twrp decrypt 1234
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
Attempting to decrypt data partition via command line.
E:No crypto support was compiled into this build.

Is it possible to add crypto support, please?

I have already cloned the sources from

https://github.com/superr/android_device_surnia.git
https://github.com/TeamWin/Team-Win-Recovery-Project

but I am stuck there, because I did not do android builds before so I am unsure wrt to the toolchain used and what other sources are required. Hints welcome..

[update] I am trying to build the image now myself. Still need help!

Status of my attempts:

I can now build CM-12.1 with twrp recovery, but still have no clue howto integrate your repo properly.

basically I cloned everything:

repo init -u https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android.git -b cm-12.1
repo sync
# then compiled CM recovery image
. build/envsetup.sh
breakfast surnia
mka recoveryimage

This booted and showed a menu. I then replaced the folder bootable/recovery/
with a clone of https://github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery
- I had to define a TWRP_THEME somewhere - and then did:

mka clean
mka recoveryimage

If I do now a

fastboot boot recovery.img

of the stuff I have compile. I see a flashing screen.

This might be the dynamic loader problem Dees_Troy mentions here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32965365
"Without them, recovery may seg fault during startup and you'll just see the teamwin curtain flash on the screen over and over."

THANK YOU SO MUCH! just spent hours messing with this phone to no avail..... then i download your image file, flash it with fastboost and BOOM right to recovery! totally fixed the recovery bootloop error i was facing.

Ok, so i am in need of desperate help. I thought i had fixed the issue late last night, but was incorrect. Im using the latest recovery. In twrp, i had wiped everything, and i mean everything. Now i am trying to install the stock rom, and cant. It fails everytime. Saying updating partition. I cannot restore as well. Fails everytime. Is there something i did wrong? Maybe deleted partitions?

Odin89 - Try after wiping to reboot into recovery and then flash the stock rom, I have had the same issue and it has worked for me

Hi man, i need some help. Can you?
Ok, the thing is that, i bought a xt1526 LTE (With SimCard Slot) & with Marshmallow... Ok, it turns slow (A lot of apps, long story xD) the problem is, when i tried to go to the Recovery mode, i saw that it says "No Command" and in the main menu it says "Device is unlocked: Status Code 3" but, its new... I've no UNLOCKED it by myself.. It's weird. It came UNLOCKED from SprintMobile?

Now i want to install Your TWRP Recovery, but it wont brick my phone? I mean, it Works with the Marshmallow (SimCard slot too) variant?
I Hope Your answer :)
