Facebook Notification Badge Issue.

Usually when I have a new notification it first shows up as a small circle badge top right corner of the Facebook icon either on homescreen or app screen, but since the last two updates this has stopped, so now I have to go in manually to check if there's been any notifications, most times there are, and the number of them shows on the world globe tab within Facebook itself, but not alerted on the icon.

Tested on an LG and bug doesn't exist, so it seems to affect certain smartphones like the Sony Xperia Z1C for example.

Curious if anyone has found this issue too?

Hi,

I have the same problem on Sony Xperia L. On 26th of July the application was updated automatically, and that time I had 8 notification. And this number is on the facebook icon still.

That's a good enough reason not to use the auto update.

Try old version 26.0.0.22.16 as I can confirm it works with the badges.

I will try it. It's interesting I uninstalled the new version, it was replaced to default version of the phone but nothing changed, the number of notifications is still there.

Data that should have been.

So Facebook was Pre-installed on your phone? I can't understand why it replaced to default version. I didn't think Facebook was preinstalled on phones.

Yes, Facebook was pre-installed. I can't delete just replace the default version which is 3.3
But your advice was good I installed the 26.0.0.22.16 version and it fixed the problem.
 
Can you test something for me?

Now that you have the same Facebook version as me can you share a post or maybe a custom post to yourself, and add for example the word test with a full stop, then add a space then try adding one of Facebooks emoticons, then let me know if it shows after its been shared. I tried this earlier and noticed that the emoticon didn't show after it had posted, only the text showed.

The emoticons I refer to are the Facebook ones not the ones used in SMS texts.
 
That bug doesn't affect when creating a new post, only when sharing someone elses post.

Looks like a bug in that version 26.0.0.22.16, perhaps that was why it was updated, lol.
 
Ah, just tested using Facebook Web version and it doesn't show them either, so it must be that Facebook is disallowing those emoticons on shared posts.

If a post is shared via another app it allows the emoticons, just not when sharing directly from the Facebook post.

Have you installed Version 42.0.0.27.114, ask as its not working again for notification badges, I'm back with an earlier version that does produce the new notifications badge.
 
Thank you Pm5544 been after this help for ages can't thank you enough for my Xperia z put that version on the 26.0.0.22.16 and hey presto badges bloody brilliant

You're welcome, only downside is the annoying requests by Facebook to update every so often. I'm using the latest version now as I'm not too bothered about the badge notifications any longer.
 
Just wanted to update to say that the latest Facebook app works with the notification badges, has done for the last few updates and long may it continue.
 
Not for me my friend I've changed my phone for a one plus one and the only time I did get them was when I was using everything me launcher so annoying but thanks for your update

You didn't say which version of Facebook you currently have.
