Why do all IPHONE owners have to fight with me constantly ?

dude u have an incredible. dont waste your time convincing apple cult members. they are beyond redemption and are forever doomed to blowing steve jobs. trust me there are much better things to do with ur life. take a video with ur incredible, checkout friend stream, install some free apps and enjoy flash.
 
I think there are some extremists either way who make a lot of noise and throw tantrums.

Us in the middle enjoy our Apple, Google, Microsoft, Palm, HTC, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Sony, Panasonic, Breitling, Omega, Rolex, Blancpain, IBM, etc products and don't pay much attention or heed to people who throw themselves behind or against one company like it's a crusade.

I buy things because I find them interesting, aesthetically pleasing, or meeting my needs. And that's where it ends, no point dogging or promoting someone else's product for free.

Can I see a picture of your BMW, Audi, Mercedes, with you next to them and your Rolex on with an iPod in one hand and the Incredible in the other?
 
OK, bottom line for me is the combination of phone and network. The iphone is a great device, but the Incredible is every bit as good, and perhaps better (that could be argued by reasonable people), but the deal maker for me is the Verizon network. AT&T leaves a great deal to be desired in the dependability and coverage departments. Verizon's service is far and away the best out there right now. So given the combination - Verizon and the Incredible come out on top in my book.

If you google my name, you might find my cars on the Bimmer M3 forums, the Audi forums, vintage BMW forums, high end watch forums, camera forums, a lot of firearms forums, and technical forums. Mixed in there should be some photos.

Although I do appreciate Rolex and used to putz around with a Submariner, I'm not a big fan of them. I much prefer IWC, Bremont, and I'm working towards a Blancpain.

The larger point is, in every online community, I always see a lot of loud voices proclaiming how incredibly fantastic one product is over another when the truth of the matter is, it's almost all buyer bias. It's extremely rare in a competitive marketplace that one product is far superior than the other. It does happen, but it's a rarity and it only lasts a few months.

This thread actually isn't as bad as some camera forums. You haven't met a fan boy until you've met a die hard Olympus fan. Sheeesh.
 
Bottom line. i-Phone users are visiting the Android forum. A real happy i-user would be on their own forum, not checking out this one.

The iPhone is incredibly stale with it's icon only UI. I have never owned one, but I have had plenty of "play time" with my coworker's over the past year. When I put the Incredible in my hand and fired it up, it was such a refreshing feeling. The UI felt more alive if that makes sense. The super bright AMOLED screen didn't hurt either. To me it's much better at this point. We will see when the next iPhone comes out, but I'm extremely happy with this phone right now.

Good logic on that one, chief. I have an iPhone 3GS and I've been looking around these forums because I want to learn more about Android because I'm considering picking up an Android phone like the Incredible.

Glad to see some iphone users recognize the ANDROID,you can't personalize or customize the iphone like you do on android.

Where can one find said app?.....ahem I mean, that's total madness! :p

I have a friend with an Apple produced phone (I don't like using its name lol), and while he's a little more tech savvy than a lot of people I know who own those phones, jailbroke it, modified it, blah blah blah, he was still kinda up there flaunting what he could do with it and what not. Mostly showing off "toy" apps, most of which were nothing but just for show, they didn't really do anything useful. Well, he was kinda knocking the Droid when it came out and the G1 before that, but now that I have my Incredible, he's been asking me questions left and right about it, what it can do, have I rooted it yet and he even said that if the next apple phone sucks, how he's gonna get an android phone. :eek: He even asked how it ran, and after I told him that it was really fast, he said: "Well, yeah, you have the most powerful phone at the moment." I was kinda surprised by that statement as he's religiously adopted every generation of the Apple phone that has been produced up until now.

I know not everyone's an extreme fanboy, but the majority of owners I've dealt with of phones who start with the letter i tend to be really cocky and uptight and just standing next to one of them makes me feel like my mental capacity is slowly dwindling away.
 
I could probably be described as an Apple fanboy, I have three Macs and I think they're the best computers, because they look amazing and they're the only computers that work properly with OS X.

That said, the kind of people described in the OP are being very closed minded. Even I have four PCs (five if my Speccy counts :D), mostly running on Linux.

As for my iPhone 3GS...

The battery life on mine is good, but only if I turn my brightness right down and keep it in my pocket most of the time, and even then it will never last a day. To be fair, it's the same situation with all smartphones really, and mine is jailbroken which Apple say you shouldn't do, but don't think the iPhone is any exception.

For that reason alone, though, I'd like a replaceable battery, would be so useful to have a spare handy for long journeys.

Expandable storage... I only have a gig or two left, could do with more.

Can't remember the other stuff from the OP, but you get the idea.

I do like my iPhone, but I also like other phones, and if I thought Android would be better for what I need than my iPhone then I'd make the switch - which is why I'm here, really :D

Not all Apple fans are like that, BTW. There's even a big thread of Nexus One switchers on this massive Apple forum.
 
Just do what I do. Choose apps that work on both devices (bump or knocking) and run them together on WiFi. When the DInc runs it faster and you are waiting for iPhone 3gs to finish you have your speed proof. Pics are better on phone and monitor (plus flash) and phone loads apps faster. Converted an iPhone fancy this past Friday.

They drink too much apple koolaid.


Alot of people will buy an Apple product knowadays because it seems like the trendy thing to do. They don't really care about all the shortcomings, and if there are other products out there that are just as good or better.

Or maybe Apple makes well designed and polished products. Some people aren't so wildly bias and one sided that they can objectively acknowledge good things when they see them.

The iPhone is an excellent phone and a great platform. Why does that ruin an Incredible users day? When you lash out at people for their personal preferences you have to evaluate your emotional investment in technology.
 
If it wasen't for the iPhone, Android would be nothing like it is. I'm not saying it's superior or anything, but it's important to remember the role it played in advancing smartphones. Don't knock it. People on here making fun of iPhone users is just as bad as them making fun of Android.

Unfortunately, this forum loses a lot of credibility with threads like.

When this forum personally attacks people for not agreeing with their opinions it is disrespectful and tactless.
 
I have friends at work who have iphones (1 is definitly an apple fanboi)
they are very resonable about the pluses and minuses of their phone and mine.
i have an ipod and use it for music and it connects to my car radio and syncs with my itunes (windows) very well. im very happy with it. i can see how it would be great if my phone did all that for me instead of carrying two devices.

on the other hand i love all the free apps that i can use on my phone and how much more custom i can make it. and my work friends definitly see the bonuses of my phone too. as soon as i told them that i bought it there response was "sweet now we have to have a touch screen typing speed war!" (i moved from a BB curve 8330)
 
I am reading all of this with interest. Overall I have been impressed with the tone of this forum, a little dissapointed to see name calling and such though.
I guess I am a bit of a techno geek wanna be, with phones anyway. I am about to get my Incredible...paying retail no less because I am tired of the blackberry (had storm 1 and 2). I may be a little naive but the open source platform idea just suits my sensibilities better than the dominant apple thing. To each his own and respect to all. Had the incredible not come along I likely would be waiting for the iphone on Verizon..much as I hated to based on principle.
Sooooooo anyway...thanks to all those with intelligent responses, info, and the opinions of all (including the helpful ones from iphone owners).
Hope this forum continues with its overall positive tone (and the negative folks move on) because it is rather refreshing.

Hmmmm...rather wordy and rambling for a first post from someone that hasn't bought one yet huh?
