The philz file i found for my device isnt a .tar its a .zip it contains a recovey.img file and a folder named META-INF. just want make sure process u gave me is same since its not a .tar

so i did it and odin says pass. when i reboot into recovery there isnt anything says philz

i did notice i did not have USB debugging enabled before i did odin....not sure if that makes difference

It should show a blue guy when booting.... then u select philz settings..
After u flash philz in odin then u need to pull the battery boot into recovery...

You need a .tar for odin. A .zip will not work. Philz development is dead, try using twrp.
twrp

I have the Boost Mobile SPH-L710T. I have followed forum instructions to the T as far as flashing recovery with Odin, and I keep getting a fail. I have factory reset the phone, and am now wondering if there is any reason I keep getting the fail. I used the links provided to obtain the TAR files needed, as well as using Odin 3.09. I'm not a noob to rooting/flashing, so this is baffling me. Could I maybe get some insight?

Twrp blocks the stock recovery usually. You could try extracting the recovery.img file from the .tar and installing it with flashify.

Help please. Tried flashing rom in recovery, now cant get passed boot screen. Tried flashing .tar in odin with no luck. Running VM Galaxy S3 SPH-L710T

What rom? It has to be built for the triband s3 ( the one you have). Roms for the regular sph L710 won't work. Try octosL. As for the .tar in odin, you have to have the triband .tar too. If you have the right .tar it will work. You also need Samsung drivers installed. If you have drivers and the right .tar, it can't fail. You must have done something wrong. Just saying "Help, nothing works" doesn't give any info.

Thank you for the response and I'm sorry for the lack of info as i am still new to all this. So here are the details.. I rooted my Virgin Mobile Galaxy S3 SPH-L710T with Odin successfully and from there Flashed the Wicked X
ROM without issues besides the inverted screen rotation. After about two weeks i decided to go back to stock. After flashing the stock ROM i could not get passed the boot animation. I then tried to flash back to the Wicked X ROM with the same outcome. After posting I continued to fool around with it and formatted everything from recovery;System, cache, etc.... I again attempted to flash stock with no luck. Then again with Wicked X which sort of worked. It boots up and everything but has several issues which include: No sound at all. No data connection. Video Play Back freezes. And in phone info it shows unknown in several lines (see pictures) If you have any thoughts or knowledge to share I'm all ears and would be , most grateful.

Thanks

Wrong yes they will I was running wicked s5 experience on my sphl710t with no problem any custom rom for the sphl710 will work and custom kernel we have the same hardware only thing different is our radios thats it. what recovery are you using 1 and 2 are you doing a clean install or a dirty flash please explain

Thanks for thee reply and Sorry for the delay in mine.
To answer your Q's
1. I am using Philz 6.48.4 .
2. I cleaned flashed by formatting boot, system, cache, dalvik cache & data.
But after a few ideas and tinkering I may have and Almost Certain that i mistakenly formatted the "Modem" as well as the "/data /data/media (/sdcard" would that be the reason for not having any sound emmitting from the phone or headphone jack works over Bluetooth connection. Also mic is not working.
If I could flash back to complete stock (root or not) that would be great. If anything i would just like to have the sound and mic back so that i can use it for music and other basic uses. Any assistance is much appreciated.

Thanks

Never wipe your modem. You need odin, and use it to flash the stock .tar for your phone and start fresh.

Thanks for looking out and perfect timing at that. I was literally about to go buy an Lg Volt. You saved me $100. If i could buy you a beer i would. Cheers!

Just picked up the tri band model at walmart for $250. I have to say its different than my regular s3 in many ways. I got stuck on the data done right plan and couldn't change my number to my old number cause i had to make a new account on virgin mobile but other than that i like it. First update i got was the stagefrieght update so it must be a fresh new model cause it only system updated once and it was the 6mb stagefrieght patch. So if your interested in this model walmart has them for $250 plus tax.
