Help Opera Browser Malware?

Ok I have used many browsers on mobile before and always went back to Opera because it is in my opinion the best around. Well that may be changing for me. And here's why. The past few weeks I do a search using the default google in the browser. But instead of my search results I get a confirmation page from google asking me to enter a security code to verify my use stating unusual traffic was detected from my browser/device. So at first I verified. But am becoming reluctant in doing so if it occurs again. I have used all of the play store browsers and none cause this issue except Opera. And I have noticed that Opera is increasingly adding speed dial links I know I would never use and all are geared as advertising. Spam.you know? But that is least of my concerns versus the ever increasing verification issue with google while performing searches. What are your thoughts on this and has it ever happened to you while using any mobile browser, not just Opera.

Did want to add that my device has a custom stock rom of my own creation and is a fresh install with nothing but stock apps, custom walkman mod for lg volt plus opera, facebook and messenger as the only third party apps installed. I installed Opera from play store along with both facebook and messenger.

I've never had this happen when using Opera Mini but I've had that happen with Dolphin Browser when I'm using a VPN.

It seems to be malware related at least according to some sites. I've removed Opera for now to see if it continues to occur.

I've been using Opera Mini for quite a while on multiple devices & never had that issue.

i was using opera mobile latest release. the browser acts funky also. can click a speed dial and it looks as if the page starts to load but just sits on speed dial until i click the link again. going to just revert to stock. no other apps i have could be causing the issue. also opera keeps pushing spammy speed dial links.

Yea newer versions of Opera Browser are kind of disappointing. I'm still using a super old version I've been using since Gingerbread and it still works on Lollipop.

@Curtis1973 take a acreenshot of next confirmation and send it to developer. Also send it to Google.
Sounds kinda "PHISHY" though. What is the URL of the security confirmation or can you capture it? Seems as if there is major redirection going on.

Google is doing the redirect to their confirmation page stating unusual traffic has been detected on my network or browser. google states thst it happens primarily due to "scraping". but some malware sites say it can happen also due to malware in software. hasnt happened again since removing opera.

Lightning Web Browser+ (also a free one on play store) has been pretty good to me so far, no sneaky parlour tricks. Fast page loads. Small apk. Memory footprint is decent (average). No extra needed plugins, everything is included. And the best part it's open source.

i think google is detecting opera sniffing my searches and then scraping the urls inputted. pretty much google is thrashing me and opera for doing the same thing they do regularly lol. but even so,i still do not like opera using my searches to advertise to me via the speed dial.

Weird I'm on the latest Opera Browser and I'm not having any issues like you're having.
