Root ZTE AWE will work with Free cell phone service promotion

Hey guys. Just letting you know that I came across a post by a guy named Dennis on Google plus who runs prepaidphonenews.com about an MVNO named RingPlus that is offering free cell phone service promotions for Sprint/Virgin mobile phones. I just entered the MEID of my daughters phone and it qualifies. There is a catch and that is having an above zero balance in your account. There is an initial $5 to $10 for top up at sign up but that is it! There was a full 1 GB data they offered which is over but you can still get the Phase 9 plan. Been trying to talk my other daughter who has a Sprint iPhone into it but she doesn't seem to care. You can check it out here: http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2015/10/ringplus-changes-pricing-for-some.html

Hey, this looks like it was a really good deal. I wish I'd have seen it a week ago. Did you jump on it, and if so, how has your experience been so far?
It looks like the current free plan is only 10MB of data, if I'm reading it correctly.
It wasn't clear to me if you have to port out an active line to take advantage of the promotion.

I didn't do it on my daughters ZTE but I did do it on my other daughters iPhone and it only took a minute to activate. It's been working great for free phone service. The total was $7 and change but $5 of that is on her account in case she goes over. We went with the Phase 9 plan which is 1500 talk, 1500 text, and 500 MB data because the 1 GB plan was ended. I would continue to follow Dennis on Prepaidphonenews.com for more promotions. There is a charge of 7.99 I believe for the port but you do not have to port over; just new activations which they are now adding to existing. They change stuff around a lot. According to this you can still get the plan we got starting tomorrow and lasting for around 5 hours unless they extend it: http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2015/10/new-ringplus-free-plan-promo-1500-min.html Let me know how it goes.

Cool, thanks for this information. I may have to jump on this tomorrow. Do they require a credit card for activation, or do they accept PayPal? Additionally, do they require that users keep a credit card on file? I'm not big on that generally.

I didn't see an option for PayPal when I signed up. I agree that I would prefer that as well. Yes, you do have to keep a credit card on file which I can understand you're not being "big" on that. Not sure if a prepaid credit card would work or not.

Thanks for your input. I'll post an update if I discover whether or not a prepaid credit card will work.

I just wanted to update that ZTE Awe N800 out of the box was a painless setup on the latest promotion.
I've tried to activate service on a couple of old devices to pass along to friends and family that need phones -- LG Optimus Elite and Optimus V. These have been problematic.
