Help Power drain since updating to 5.1

Kraftwerk

Well-Known Member
Never had a problem with the battery, but now since updating to 5.1 the battery only lasts half a day.

Fully charged it last night @ 2100 and I have not used it today.
It is now 1545 and the battery is nearly drained!
What is going on?

Is there anything I can do to sort this problem out?

Thanks

Does it show anything unusual in the battery usage (Settings -> Battery)?

After upgrading a factory reset usually fixes problems, but you could clear the cache partition first to see if that helps:

1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL DOWN KEY for 2-3 seconds then POWER key then release.
2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS.
3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to select.
4. The device will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress (logo with Exclamation mark).
5. Press and keep holding POWER button for 2-3 seconds, then press and release VOL UP button, then release the POWER button.
Tip: You can try this step, holding the phone in landscape. If you are stuck on step 6, try a force reboot by pressing the Power key and VOL DOWN key, and start the process again.
6. Phone will display menu options, use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll to wipe cache partition and the POWER Key to select this option
8. The device will then perform the partition wipe and reboot.

Did you Wipe Cache Portion (deleting all temporary data and not touching installed apps, data, or settings) after the update?

I did not wipe the cache. I will follow the instructions posted by 'Kate'.
I hope it works.
Thanks

What I do ...

Minor update to current release ... always do a Wipe Cache Partition after the update.
Major update of version like 4.4.4 to 5.1 ... always do a Factory Data Reset after the update.

I do a Wipe Cache Partition every Saturday as part of my weekly maintenance.
