How hard would it be to tweak cwm recovery Philz touch to work as the custom recovery for the ZMAX?

Actually, the recovery that @Ethanbanker2428 posted was cyanogen recovery which is useless. All it can do is flash cm12.1. On a phone like the zmax its not something you want to use since it can't make backups

Not hard.
Define all the partitions and mount points.
Hard part is getting the setup ready and source downloaded to create the recovery.

I ask because as much as I like TWRP I prefer Philz. And I am willing to do the work. I just may need some guidance.

Luckily we already have the newest versions of TWRP so we don't need an obsolete recovery like philz

With all due respect MC, Philz may be older then the current version of TWRP. But I do like it.

Your best bet would be to try to learn how to compile it yourself, because no one cares about philz recovery enough to build it. Everything you need is already in the source you just need to the device and some tags for it in the philz source. Good luck!
