2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

The best we can hope for is pure functionality. Anything beyond that is bonus.

As much as I would like to agree, I have to say the phone is pretty functional with or without the OTA..that is assuming the phone you have isn't one of the assembly line screw-ups.. I for one would say the best we could hope for is another update to keep us interested in our phones. And even that is a long-shot

6:45am ""tapping fingers""

You're gonna get callouses on your fingers if you keep tapping lol. Like many other verizon firmware updates, they don't go to all phones at once. So while the roll out may start today, you may not get it till tomorrow or the day after.

I had a loud laugh this morning when I booted up my phone.

"Update available" came to the notification bar, this just after reading in here about "the 11th is the day," etc.

Barcode scanner update. :D

I wonder if the OTA counts as a 10th anniversary present for The Missus??

"Look, honey! I upgraded your phone's OS. Happy Anniversary!!"

I think it does, if she gives you any lip tell her we told you it was a good enough present. She'll understand.

Ok, seems we are back up and running here. No OTA yet, but I called Verizon again and they said it is still set to rollout today, but it will be done slower than the Droid update. We shall see.

I still say I'll believe it when I see it. Or rather, I'll believe it when someone on here actually gets it. I wish they would just post a link to it on the Verizon site, that way we can all get it ASAP.

I completely understand your skepticism. I'm just going by the official word so far.

If I recall correctly, when the Droid got its update, the first batch wasnt sent out until 11:59pm on the night of the announced date.
Im not expecting anyone to see anything today, and if we are lucky enough to have a member of this forum receive the update tonight, then maybe we can get a link to the official download sometime tomorrow.
For anyone who is continuously watching their phone all day today, I dont think its necessary. Of course I am checking periodically, but I think midnight is when you will know whether today was your day or not.

I dont understand why they dont just release to everyone all at once..

If there is some catastrophic failure that bricks everyone's phones they wil be able to stop pushing the updates OTA and correct the problem. If they did it all at once there would be no recourse.

Dont they test these things??

When im patching my Servers, Redhat and Microsoft dont make me wait for my turn.. when the patch is ready it ready..

According to their Twitter Account the update has no date at this time.

I'll believe it when I see it. I'm already running v.3, I already have the hacked keyboard with voice to text and the 3D gallery running on my phone. Yes, I'm missing the rest of the "polish" of the official update but for now I'm OK with that. I'm hoping to see an update notification that new software for the phone is available soon but I'm not holding my breath.

I brought my phone charger here just in case the update is pushed and I happen to receive it.

In the event I do get the update but it isn't leaked or posted yet, is there a way to capture the update to share it with everyone?
