Dude, that's because it is impossible to know until the update comes down to peoples phones.

This has been answered SEVERAL times.

Again, no one knows anything more than what is on the PDF I just posted a couple posts above.

Also, even if People on leak Ver 3. do not get the OTA update, we will be able to download and install the Official Verizon update from here:
Personal Communications Devices

As has been the case with every other phone update we have received.

Yup, I think it's a mystery too. Either way, if you are on leaked versions or not...OTA or not...there will be means to get the "Official" operating system update.

Dude first off it hasnt been answered and i didnt know about that website

Welcome to the forum chops, It may seam that some can come off a little harsh but during the last few weeks that question has been coming up more often that I can say. There is no solid answer yet other than we all have to wait and see. The theory is that it should but not any solid proof. That website link given to you should have the update a few days or so after the OTA goes live, But again there is no proof. I would just follow along the threads and we will all learn together and from each other. Again Sorry if you were treated a little harsh and welcome!

thanx man I have the moto droid and the eris is my wifes phone and just wanted to find out whats going to happen cause i dont have time to read every post on this board

MyBackupPro works just fine. Put both the apps and data on the SD card. Then download MyBackupPro after the update and reinstall all the apps and data. Astro works OK too.

I have not rooted or done the leak on my phone but I am interested to see what happens. Based on how they did the upgrade from the MOTO I think it will be along the same lines a little at a time with the option to download it and install it your self. Either way you should be good to go just have to wait a few days till the update is released or extended again!

The Android OS is a standard Linux/Unix type so the file system will not change at all. As an owner of a Moto Droid too, I lived through the 2.1 rollout during the Easter weekend and had no problems at all. You can all stop holding your breath and just take it easy. Follow the instructions and you'll be all fat 'n happy running 2.1 when your turn comes up. My wife will likely not even notice when the update happens...it's just a phone to her...sigh...

My mother was *pissed* when dad got the 2.1 rollout and a week later she still didn't have it. (Both have Moto Droids). I didn't think she would care, but she did. However, when I told her the OTA was over, everyone had it, and she said she didn't I wondered what could have happened. I was there when dad got his, but I live 2 hours away so couldn't keep checking mom's. Being so far away, I had my brother take a look at it, and he said it was on 2.1...who knows how long she had been on it and pissed that she hadn't gotten it! LOL, I know how big the notification is when you go to upgrade, I'm shocked that she never noticed that she got it. Hopefully your wife will at least notice, lol.

I have an Incredible, and although the live wallpapers are kind of cool, I never use them unless I'm showing someone how cool they are. I really hope this update comes tomorrow, my wife's Eris is all jacked up from the 2nd leak.

I had an HTC rep tell me it was coming out the 11th a couple weeks ago and I was REALLY hoping he wasn't lying to me! Looks like it's legit!

The only thing I use the trackball for is when typing and I have to go back and change a letter... instead of trying to tap on the spot, or erase everything up to that point, just use the track ball to bring the cursor where you want it.

i have cute little baby fingers tho :o i can tap in the exact spot MOST of the time when i mess up while typing.

Just a tip... if you can't find a definitive answer for something... that usually means there isn't one and you only know as much as we do. Which is what Verizon has told us.

It has been stated many times that there is no sure answer and even if for some reason you don't get the OTA, you WILL be able to download it just like the leaks.

Well, this figures. I just updated my phone from 2.1v2 to 2.1v3... last night. :p

I won't get terribly excited over this... if past experience is any guide, then my area is about the last to receive any OTA updates (and on non-smartphones, sometimes they never arrive at all, and you have to go into the Verizon store).

Here's hoping they planned an upgrade scheme for 2.1 leaks (not just version 1.5 -> 2.1). I really am getting sick of reinstalling everything every time, even if I am getting faster at it. :D

Does anyone really expect any new changes above and beyond the v3 "leak"? I mean, doesn't it make sense to "leak" out different versions of a new OS and have unpaid beta users (i.e. us) help you test and troubleshoot?

I would be surprised if the OTA standard version we install has much, if anything, over what those of us who have installed v3 have now. I'm just hoping for more bug fixes.
