Help Upgrading OS on [new] Galaxy Note N7000

This is my first post so please excuse me if this has already been covered. I had a look around but couldn't see anything specifically relating to my issue.

I recently bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note N7000. Yes, the earliest version of the Note [I'm not in a position to afford the newest version], which I'm enjoying immensely. However, the phone is slow. And I mean s...l...o...w. I've reformatted the SD card, removed the SD card, deleted unwanted applications, etc. All the usual stuff that you can do. So I checked the version of Android on the phone which is 4.1.2

I understand that this is an older version of Android and I am wondering if I update the version that the phone will run smoother and quicker? If it can be upgraded would I be able to find advice and help here to tell me what and how to do that?

Any and all help will be much appreciated.

Please check if your Smartphone equipment performance ( CPU, Storage space ... ) meets the Android 4.4 requirement.
If it fits withe at least the Android 4.4, do the following :
Update to the 4.4 :
1 - Stock your important files in the SD card and remove it.
2 - Connect your Smartphoneto your LapTop or PC.
3 -Download the Android 4.4 : https://www.android.com/versions/kit-kat-4-4/ .
4 - Install it.

You may have to root your phone and install a custom kitkat ROM. The original Notes did not receive the update to Kitkat. The custom ROMs will probably be much faster. I had the AT&T versio of the Note and rooted it. If you don't know about root, visit the Root section of this forum for the Note N7000. Click below:

Engjoseph, I've looked on youtube for help with how to install 4.4 and noticed that they list several warnings about the Note possibly becoming 'bricked' if certain protocols are not followed. They specifically state that:

"This procedure is very technical and should be performed by a person with sound knowledge of rooting (or manual software installation) Android devices. If the step-by-step installation process is not followed properly, there are chances of the smartphone getting bricked or being permanently irreparable."

Which kinda' scared me a bit, lol. It also says to ensure the phone has at least 80% battery to avoid the process being interrupted and possible damage done to the software. Tbh, although I'll have a go at anything I'm also aware of my limitations and think it's probably best to seek a local company to do this for me. Would you have any idea at all of a ballpark figure for the cost of this? £30? £40? More?

Personally I would not pay to have a device rooted. Root is for advanced users who know what they are doing. If you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself then you probably should just leave it be. Being root can also render you a nice paper weight if you do not know what your doing. Besides the person you pay could brick the device and chances are you'll be short on cash and have an expensive paper weight.
