Sorry for the delay, I ended up a little under the weather last night.
Any word on sales via carrier (T-Mobile/MetroPCS | AT&T/Cricket)?
I'm Jumping out of my Note5 next month & this would be a good candidate to Jump into...............
The Honor brand is sold direct to consumer via the web only. I don't think you will see any sales via carrier. I think I saw sales are going through Amazon and
www.hihonor.com/us right now.
What is the airspeed of a coconut laden swallow?
Oh, sorry, wrong forum.
African or European? And there is never a wrong forum for that.
What is the audio quality like? Both though it's own speaker and a headset? I'm kinda spoiled with the front-facing speakers on the N6. That said, the wife is still driving an S3 and I would seriously consider getting her the gold one (especially since I just got her an iPod for Christmas .... gold, of course.)
As to the software, is this a themed and bloated monstrosity like Sammy and HTC? or are they lean and mean, just a hair shy of pure AOSP?
The sound is very good, possibly a touch on the loud side through the speakers on the bottom. I haven't used a headset, but I've used an external speaker and my truck, both via bluetooth and it seems fine to me. My wife went from an S3 to the P8 LIte and is very happy. This is almost the same internals as the P8L with the addition of a metal body, larger screen, and fingerprint scanner. As an upside, the battery life is so incredible on these devices that she didn't miss the massive 4700mA second battery I purchased for her S3.
As to the #BlameEMUI was a call to arms during testing. It is skinned to look like iOS and has no app drawer. Installed apps are just randomly place on a homescreen where there is room. There is a way to hide them, but it isn't at all good in my opionion. Two other annoyances are notifications and protecte apps. Each app that raises notifications to the status bar needs to be explicitely allowed. Unlike native Android it is a white list, not black list. The other is that there is an in built task manager that tries to take the place of native Android task management (read, Automatic Task Killer) and this is again, run by a white list, not a black list. This one is at least very easy to shut down and you can add all apps to the white list (protected) in two quick clicks, and then it runs like normal Android.
As far as bloat, mine came with Amazon, Twitter, Facebook, Facetune and one or two others that I forget. The good news is that they are put in a folder called top apps and can be fully uninstalled. Easy to find and easy to remove.
As far as the gold, I didn't think I would like it, and I tried not to like it when I first got it. It has grown on me and now I'm a fan.
I am an existing Verizon Wireless customer. Can I use this phone on Verizon network?
Thanks
This does not support CDMA channels used by both Verizon Wireless and Sprint. I hear some people are using it on Google Fi, but I'm not clear on whether they are able to make actual calls or just VOIP calls, and I haven't tried.
