Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Common Core took all the humanity out of teaching. It also dispensed with any Common Sense.

This nonsense goes in cycles. Either learning by standards is good, or learning by experience it good. So far, no one has combined it. The powers that be are taking away all of childhood it seems. There's shaming for this, shaming for that, and you get arrested it you let your kid make mud pies.

If folks want to further discuss the topic, they are free to start a thread there. So far what's been posted here has been OK IMO.
So if sons and daughters have problems with government state education, US, China, or otherwise, please continue in P&CA. I won't be taking part.

I find people not replying to emails annoying. Does this annoy anyone else? You wouldn't ignore someone if they asked you a question. It's just rude.
I completely agree!

However, typically if I don't receive a response in a reasonable time, I keep replying to them every few days. Also, as necessary, I leave them voicemails and text them, until I get a response from them.

Of course I am always polite, but if they don't provide a response in a reasonable time, I feel it is my duty to pester the politely.

Personally I like calling it being a Polite Pest! [emoji6]

Depends who the people are, and is a round-robin email sent to everyone on your list? Are you expecting responses from all of them? Or are you sending an email to an individual?

Depends on what you asked. Anything personal is likely to get blown off. If you asked how to fix something, you'd be answered.

Never heard of this Common Core, but it sounds like a colossal mistake. Let's hope this is one US trend that doesn't make it over to the UK.

Huge mistake for sure.. I've never seen ppl make easy stuff so inexplicably difficult and marking correct answers wrong so much so often until Common Core began. STUPID SH!T, really..

Think it's something the US got from state education in China.

That doesn't add up cuz the Chinese seem smart

On the morning news on Fridays, one of the newscasters always says "TGIF to you".

Since when is TGIF something you say to people that way? It sounds weird.

When the first thing a total stranger says to you is not 'hello', but something critical. Way to get off on the right foot

I suppose it depends on what the critical thing is...

I mean, if some random person comes barreling toward me blabbering something about murder, mayhem or Martians, then I'm not going to get to bent out of shape.

On the other hand, if some guy walks up to inform me that his wife is leaving him, then I'm going to be very not caring and will want to be rid of him posthaste.

Too bad I can't even buy a Pepsi from the Pepsi vending machine

Well I suppose you had to be there, it really ground my gears..
But I feel better now :D

Unfortunately I have had that happen to me on a few occasions..

Random Person: "You need a hair cut"

Random Person: "That is an ugly shirt your wearing"

Yes, I agree that it is completely annoying...

I mean, keep they can keep their comments to themselves, I don't need to hear their thoughts about me.
