Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Well I wasn't using the wine to settle my stomach, lol. But the Zantac had the side effect I wasn't aware of - of drastically increasing blood alcohol level - & the wine hit me like a ton of bricks. I got dizzy & fell & bonked my head, & now I have a black eye to show for it. Pretty embarrassing.

P.S. I thought I said not to ask [emoji14]
Well, you didn't have to answer...

OK, here's another one. I went with my daughter to an appliance store yesterday, because she needs a washer & dryer & she asked me to go with her. The store she chose had a pretty good deal on a set being clearanced, which was good - but they wouldn't negotiate anything, at all, which I think is lame.

She picked out a front loader set (low end, but still) so she was shelling out a lot of moolah, the sales guy looked in the pedestal drawer to see if there were washer hoses & since there weren't, he told her she could buy them from him for something like $20. I asked him, since she's spending a lot of money on this set, if they would just throw in the washer hoses? He said "nope". There were a couple of other times we tried to negotiate anything at all, & they just said no every time; we even got a different person to help us because the first sales woman was actually really rude. It amazes me that they couldn't give her a $20 set of hoses when she just dropped a big load of money. If it was my purchase I'd have left that store & found something elsewhere, because I can't stand dealing with sales people like that.

The best as far as I know. :) The wife and I just recently entered the world of better than blended bag tea from the grocery store. It's amazing the flavors of the different teas. We are having a blast exploring the seemingly endless options.

Have you tried Harney and Sons for tea. I order from them all the time. (UPS ground for me is overnight)
I like the Paris and Tower of London blends. For those checking out the site, a sachet is a tea bag shaped like a 3 sided pyramid instead of the regular 2 sided bag.

I would and have done so. I've better things to do than deal with unpleasant people, and I will go out of my way to cater to businesses who make my transactions pleasant.

No I haven't. I saved your link and I thank you. I've been shopping at a local vendor. They are a huge supporter of our local PBS programming which influenced my patronage. They have a large area/room dedicated to all things tea with knowledgeable sales staff to help a beginner such as myself. I've been very impressed with my purchases so far. That's not to say that I'm not interested in looking elsewhere.

Zantac helps you get drunk faster? Why wasn't I notified about this? :p

This whole Flint MI thing. UN BE LIEVABLE.

I'll tell you, as far as I am concerned, this was a case of a government entity executing a planned out, methodical, diabolical plan to not only defraud the residents of Flint as well as the American public.

They were paying (in their estimation) too much money for good healthy clean water, so they found a source (questionable as it was) that would provide financial relief. You can't tell me they didn't know the quality of the water they were shifting over to, they did. And did it anyway. They KNEW the federal government would bail them out (and they are) at the expense of taxpayers across the country. And now as icing on the cake there are celebrities collecting donations for the purpose of taking care of the people of Flint. (Which is nice but also continues to rescue those in power those responsible.)

Oh and insult to injury? They are still charging residents for their water service. Yea charging for water that's poisonous.

On top of that, they're stressing how much it would cost to inspect everyone's supply pipes.. It would be more feasible and "Right" to just skip the "checking" part to save $$ and put that towards fixing Everyone's pipes. It's the right thing to do.

The water itself wasn't, isn't, poisonous; someone just forgot to (basically) adjust the pH a little... the water infrastructure of Flint uses lead and copper pipe. When the new water source came online, the water essentially scrubbed decades of deposits out of that plumbing, exposing fresh lead and copper to leach into the water.

A little conditioning of the input and a little time to recoat the pipes will fix things; but because of the politics and general uproar, someone will end up forking out a billion and a half dollars to rip out and completely replace the plumbing for the whole region. That's not an exaggeration, by the way, that's the actual cost estimate.

Considering that Flint, MI had a tenth of the population it had ten years ago...

As usual, the worst part is the cover up. They knew for over a year and said nothing. They let kids suffer life long irreversible brain damage to cover their asses. I'm not being political, I don't know or care about the political affiliation of the guilty parties, but they not only need to lose their jobs, they should be prosecuted. I can't even imagine the lawsuits that will come out of this debacle.

I'm annoyed by self-closing refrigerator & car doors. I know it's a convenience in case I'm too forgetful to shut the door, but it ticks me off when I open my car door, then reach to my right to grab my purse & lunch (or whatever else I may have set on the passenger seat), then stick my leg out only to have the door close on it. Or being in my kitchen doing stuff, taking something out of the fridge & turning around to put it on the counter, then turning back to grab something else & seeing either the door closing or already closed.

I guess that's one advantage of being poor. I don't have anything that fancy. :p

You know what else is grinding my gears? When people put their cellphone on blast in a quiet area. You'd think a person would have the common decency to use headphones and put the phone on vibrate, right? Guess not.

A colleague in the office has the Top Gun theme as his ringtone, and it's *really* loud. When that goes off everyone practically jumps out of their seat. I mean, it's a great tune but..

I've got :The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" for a ringtone - it's one of the few mp3s I use. I don't have it on loud, but it is loud.

I mostly use MID. One whole song is less than a couple of K, and you didn't have to cut them on the old phones. MIDs are not that loud, so the phone volume is set to them.
