Random Thought Thread

I like clouds so will occasionally take and post those. They're cool. The kid only takes selfies when the situation warrants, like with some of the animals he encounters through work. What could be more fun than you and vulture? I rarely take one and I hate video chats. No one wants to look at this mug ;)

And, changing the subject, I'm rather pleased with myself right now. Busted out the screwdriver, got over my initial fear and adjusted the pickups on my new to me since November guitar. The neck was too high/loud so I lowered it a lot. Because twang on a Telecaster. :D
Nice. Never learned any musical instrument, though I wish I had.

I don't know what bothers me the most, selfies or inspirational quotes. But the absolute worst are the narcissists who combine them.

You're not a damn philosopher and your post does not increase my assessment of your intellect. Leave me alone to look at memes making fun of stupid people.

Completely agree!

Well Said Sir! [emoji106]

I like the selfie thread here though, it's fun to see what the people look like who post here [emoji4]

If everyone looked like you, assuming that is you, I'd be all for selfies. Meanwhile, here's my selfie before I lost my tail...

by the way, I didn't mean any disrespect to people posting pictures of themselves in the other thread, indeed that is fun to see what you all look like.
I'm just referring to the general 'selfie' obsession that people have with putting themselves in any photo they take.

Like people who selfie with food, their pets, in the bathroom, in dangerous areas like the middle of traffic...

There is a time and place for selfies. We know what we look like, no need to update that every 24 hours unless something drastic has changed. Like you're wearing makeup when you never do or you finally got that cosmetic surgery for likes on Facebook!

If that's Aeroflot, then why is the money in USD?

I should think that Russia would use the EURO. More business from that part of the world and Asia.

Think the service is being run by Beoing or something, and they've just branded it for the airline it's on.

Russians will often use Euro though, for many things.

I know I missed most of the selfie discussion. I will say this, I am not sure I've ever taken a selfie of "only" myself. Generally speaking I am in on the "couple selfie" which I am ok with. I'll just say I don't trust giving my camera to a stranger to get a picture of both of us. It's easier to just go the couple selfie route and my beloved is damn good at getting a good picture and angle.

The selfie revolution we are in is ... confusing to an old man like me. I don't get it. While on the cruise that's all anyone between 15-25 was taking pictures of. Not the beautiful sights .... just themselves. o_O

I think there really is a "pics or it didn't happen" mentality. I think the social media generation genuinely gets as much of a rush from the anticipation of posting about their adventures on Facebook and Instagram as they do from just enjoying the moment. Is it bragging or narcissism, or just a different world that they've grown up in? I try not to judge, lest I sound like the proverbial grumpy old man. (at least out loud, I do my judging silently LOL)

This too shall pass... I hope.
Mine's more interesting:

I'm double and right on the ecliptic. The sun passes over me around November 7. 3,000 years ago, it was the autumn equinox, 3,000 years in the future, it will be the winter solstice.
From Earthsky.org.

I used to belong to Scorpius, that's why I'm called the Southern Claw of Akrab
