2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

While I cannot speak about redhat, MS and Apple do loads of testing before releasing anything. Plus a software os release is much less perilous overall. As if they screw up a small patch it usually won't cripple the OS entirely(not that that hasn't happened before) with this update they are replacing the ENTIRE os on a flash chip over the air. Much more dangerous.
 
I'm wondering...

I received a VM yesterday from a VZ rep (in response to my online inquiry) and in her message she stated the update was released and "available in stores" and should be received "in the next 24hrs". Does this mean I can go into a store and get the update or did I catch her between vodka shots and she was just talking without thinking???
 
In response to my Tweet asking if those with leaks will get OTA or will have to update manually, @VZWSupport says, "All Eris owners will get OTA update. Ota is the only option at this time."
 
Okay ... so if I have the 2.1 v2 leak, and now the copy-protected apps are now supposed to be seen (since 2.1 OTA is going out) how come I don't see any of the apps I had bought before that I lost when I upgraded?

its 2.1 leak VERSION 3 that the copy right apps show they have the same build numbers as the ota just the leak isnt as polished as the ota .........

We've been waiting for MONTHS and MONTHS for this update. Now its rolling out so waiting another day or two for it to reach my phone is really no big deal. I don't know what the fascination is with being the FIRST to get it....

Has anyone tried the rooted 2.1 from theunlockr.com? If so, how is it working for u and what version of the leak would it be and if I installed it, would I still get the OTA?

Okay... so the question now is, do I just update to the V3 leak OR do I want to be patient and wait for someone to post a link to the "official" OTA download?

I just want the update already. I have the V3 leak but I would rather it be the more "polished" version and I would rather have the official OS than the leaked version. Is it also true that I will get the protected apps in the market now?

honestly i would wait because its still specualtion at this point i dont think there is any confirmed "leak" upgrades at this point but @vzwsupport stated i would still get ota even with me having leak v3 so your call but whats a few more days ?

O talked to a rep about forty five minutes ago and she stated that I already had the 2.1 version and that I do not need the update because I was already upgraded. I don't think we are going to get the update.

well we can at least get it swapped now in our local store so maybe we just added a few more steps to our upgrade process but in the long run we should be able to get the official 2.1 one way or another

What do you mean we should be able to get it swapped in stores? Are you saying I can go to my store and get the upgrade from there? Are you positive about this?
 
Sorry I'm sure this has been asked a gazillion times....I'm a noobasaurus......but has ANYONE gotten the "official" OTA update? Are we sure it should possibly be coming out?

no no no not saying that at all WHAT I AM SAYING IS that now eris is officially on 2.1 so you could go into the store and say your phone is not running right after upgrade so they should be able to replace but again this is my opinion

I think he means taking it to the store and saying its defective and getting a new/refurb phone. Since technically it will look like we have the OTA 2.1 update.

Look in the market now, you will see them.
 
I was on leak v2. Just received the OTA update. For v2 leakers your anxieties can be relieved. I'd assume the same for the v3 leakers as well. But then again, who knows...
