I dont think it could go anywhere else because it would erase itself after it flashes the on board memory

Try the T-Mobile G1 - that sucker locks so fast you can't even work through an IVR system a couple of levels deep without it locking on you. I'm a big fan of the G1, but I just moved to Nebraska and Verizon are the only players out here. The G1 was pretty much useless. Luckily I was right at the end of my contract (great timing) so I could switch without a penalty. For as good as the G1 is/was, I'm loving the Eris - it's so much smoother and more responsive.

It will certainly be on the SD card. The space on your phone will be REPLACED with the new data that downloads in the OTA.

HTC's Twitter said that it did roll out yesterday, but it's going to take a few days for people to start getting it. Sorry if that's already been said, I haven't kept up with this.
Im about to go to the verizon store and ask them to replace my phone for some obscene reason in order to get the official 2.1 update...im a VERY impatient person lmao but I cant, for the life of me, think of a logical excuse as to what is broken on it. I could complain though that it started acting funny in some sort of way right after I got the 2.1 update..they cant tell its a leaked version..

Good luck they are probably all still on 1.5 in the box and you will have to wait for OTA.

It makes me laugh that we are all checking this thread as if this is the way we could get the OTA any quicker on the phone.
What's even worse is that I'm in the middle of cleaning house and keep stopping the check for lastest posts...I'm such a geek at heart!
I would not have to wait for the OTA considering I could then just get it updated in the store.

I'm pretty sure getting a new phone wouldn't necessarily get you the update faster....
C'mon guys, don't you have things to do? Jobs to work? Lives to go about? I'll admit, I've been following this thread closely and checking my phone more than usual, but posting every 5 seconds about how impatiantly you're waiting is just more crap for us to weed through looking for legitimate information.
EDIT: I personally should be sleeping... night night fellow nerds. Will post photos as soon as I get it!

Worst part is they probably only release the patch at midnight to the release groups, then during the "CheckIn" process the patch is downloaded.

Yeah if they're doing it in the store - might take days for that... plus you'll have to convince them there's something wrong with your existing phone. Just be patient and wait a couple of days
