Sorry if I seem ignorant BlueScreen, but why/how would Intel be involved with an HTC phone? Intel helps develop some of the software for HTC? I thought Sense was entirely their own creation.
Intel builds the drivers, software, and protocols for the hardware. They also do the firmware. Even the qualcom chip is using intel software to work.

Thanks. Does Intel do this for a lot of other phones, or primarily HTC phones? I suppose it's not much different than HTC being supplied the touch-screens for the EVO by Atmel.

Can someone explain this to me...I'm currently a Sprint customer, if I pre-order at BB will I get my upgrade price (I'm due) as well as number ported to this device etc.

Or will I basically be buying a new phone and will have to active on my own?

(providing that the information about May release for pre-orders is correct)

When I spoke to the BB mobile managers at multiple locations they all said the same thing. If you

They won't be getting a copy of the movie to stream, but I agree I bet they'll all be getting an Evo! (speculating)

not the movie, the preview. Whatever is being shown on the big screen will be streamed to the phone. Bank (speculatively speaking, of course).

So May 29th is a Saturday - so preorders won't be shipped? Have to go to your local Radio Shack or Best Buy to pick up? And Sprint won't partake in pre-orders like other carriers, it'll just simply be for sale on June 6th?

Yes. if you want it like the rest of us! You will have to drive your happy rear end to place you pre ordered from(BB or Shack) on the 29th to pick it up first hand.

I am sure you can make arrangements to have it shipped, I think?

I am not sure why Sprint is not doing the same deal as BB and Shack. I am guessing that Shack and BB paid some pretty good money for the rights to do so.

In the end we win..More money for Sprint=more 4g towers, and we get it a week or so early.

Okies going to sign off for a bit...I'll check in with you chaps and chapettes around show time. I got a lot of vacationing to catch up on.

Cheers

Looks like they'll be getting a chocolate high, but they're not going to walk out with a bunch of Evos. The main sites still haven't had their shots at reviews, and I can't imagine Sprint letting people have them and have the first hands-ons come from other than the know review sites.

What I really want to know is who from Sprint will be there and the head chief on site.

You don't ask someone to travel (for some) across the country to let them see a movie and play with a device for 5 minutes. You give them a device that maybe cost you $75. Just my opinion.

weren't there a bunch of pres out in the wild before any review units were delivered? Plus, whose to say that review evos aren't on the fedex trucks right now heading over to engadget and phonescoop?

I'm on the same boat. Does anyone know the answer to this?

I've posted my story a bunch of times, and I'm typing this on my pre now, so if you'd like the particulars, look at my other posts. To sum up, an early upgrade of a few days should be zero problem for you. Start logging chat sessions now and save the transcripts.

It is supplied with the protocols. Wimax is opened source. Intel builds the drivers, firmware, and software, but that does not mean they could not open and change that.

It is opened sourced. But all roads led back to intel. Home - Linux WiMAX

Intel invented wimax, as stated before. And controls most of the developement of it.

That is why qualcomm is rushing forward with lte.

But intel developed almost everything you see regarding wimax.

All is going to be revealed tonight, accept "MAYBE" for a couple of tidbits I mentioned earlier in this thread on the software tweaks we made at Intel. I submitted the gold copy (May 6th)and it will be up to Sprint/HTC/Google to allow for the simple revisions done. I have received no negative or positive feed back on my phone (Vacation) as of yet..

well nobody ever heard of a PA event. just a NYC and LA event. BUT that venue looks awful small.

remember the "Pre Premier Party" debacle that never happened?
It is a dual event. They are going to stream the event from newyork to pa and visa versa. That part is clear.

Sprint event is in pa, disney is in new york.

I also here rumors of something like they are going to turn wimax on in new york to night, but that is a 4th party rumor. ( a friend of a friend that knows a guys dog)
