It's going up to 80+ here. Supposed to break the record. I could turn on the air.

Of course I've got the windows open and getting some fresh air. In PA fresh air=fresh fertilizer. Still, it's home. :p

I'm in a haunted hotel.

Not a haunted room, though. So far, no ghostly apparitions of children running down the hallway.

I was not aware of polybutylene plumbing; I was kind of suspicious at first when I saw that most of the first Goole hits were ny the same company, but I am convinced that it is a problem material and distinct from PEX, which seems to be the goto solution on all the home shows.

I know we had a huge problem with low-quality copper piping in my dad's house in Florida... my current house is mostly galvanized, which is a pain to repair, but lasts fifty years (which is why I am in the process of digging out my sixty-eight year old water main).

I am thinking about switching to PVC or PEX on the interior plumbing, but I have to concentrate on other things first.

I re-plumbed my entire 1800 sq ft 1959 ranch house in 2014 with PEX - including making a hot and cold manifold that sends each "circuit" to each outlet. i.e. I have a shut off valve for the hot water on the kitchen sink and one for the cold, I have one for the hot in the master bath, one for the cold (for the sink and separate ones for the shower and a cold for the toilet) so on and so forth for the rest of the house. It was a weekend job from sun up to sun down but the results are well worth it. I have not had one minutes problem with it since I installed it all and I never loose pressure in the shower, ever.

I can't find the pictures I had of mine, but here's a link to the guy who's method I copied. He's brilliant.

I* also replaced to PEX in my current house. Changed the pipes, the fittings, everything. When I bought that house in '05, I didn't know anything about manufactured-home components. But by them failing, one at a time, they taught me more than I wanted to know. At least this time, I know what the red flags are.

The puzzle in the new house is although it's all poly, it shows no signs of failure in its twenty-five years. But that, of course, actually means nothing, since they fail exactly when they want to.

*I, as in, my plumber-friend.

Why PEX tho..? What's wrong with CPVC?! Lmfao [emoji12]

Yesterday I deposited my Federal tax refund using only my phone, that was the first time I've ever done that. It didn't surprise me how easy it was to do, but what did surprise me is that I don't need to get the physical check to the bank, ever. A message popped up saying to keep the check for 2 days, then I can either toss it, or keep it for my own records.

We've come so far with technology, it's crazy :D

Well *I actually meant ME in my post. I'm a hands on kinda guy and I'll tell ya. If you can build a model, or a Lego creation or ever played with erector sets as a kid, PEX will make you a MASTER PLUMBER. It's very easy to do if you pay attention and follow directions.

CPVC never really caught on. I remember my dad scoring a bunch of it and we used it to make a greenhouse in the back yard. The color is more cream than white and the outer diameters of the pipe are different than regular PVC

I inherited the "family house" my grandparents bought it new in 1960. My grandfather had started the process of replacing all the galvanized plumbing with CPVC - had even gone so far as cutting, assembling and hanging replacement lines that never got put in. (Hanging right next to the existing galvanized.) For the 3 years I owned it prior to re-plumbing I "affectionately" referred to the plumbing as Frankenstein. CPVC makes your water taste like a travel trailer, it has a distinct plasticy flavor. Additionally, it becomes brittle over time. PEX (so far) is a dream. There is no taste and it remains flexible and as long as you keep it out of direct sunlight is supposed to last virtually forever. (UV light breaks down the material) Additionally, it does not burst should it freeze.

Just spent a couple hours at the California Oil Museum in Santa Paula... Pretty darn interesting though three were a few propaganda moments here and there.

Yup...it's the same reason I am on Linked-In!

Yup!

Of course yes it's useful for building a network of contacts and that's the main purpose, but there are surely some people you wouldn't want to work with?

Buying my new house has been a challenge. I got a 'steal,' an as-is bank-owned repo for 100K. Most of the neighboring sales have been 120 to 140. But it needs...

I can't talk myself out of this one. Today I'll cut a cashier's check, deliver it to title, add accounts for gas, power and water. Closing is this Monday and then I'll have two houses, for a while. Still haven't decided whether to move into the new house or flip it. I'll decide once it's fixed up.

Thank the lord it's Friday. There have been at least two times this week I was fairly certain there would never be another Friday ever. Now if only we can put a stop to this Monday thing in my lifetime ...
Wow!

Dude...I completely know the feeling!

While I personally had a very long and hard week, luckily this particular week hasn't been that bad, but have had some weeks like that recently.

My thoughts and prayers are with you!

With the issues in the office where I work, with all of the Office Politics, frequently I am very thankful for the weekend, and dread Monday morning.

I hope and pray that you will get through your troubles.

Not to mention Europe is changing to daylight saving time (summer time) in two weeks.
