Really weird problem

For some reason, my Eris I think, has lost it. The problem is, that if the phone has a sudden jolt (or even if you move it sometimes), it will arrow down the selection (sort of like scrolling the ball down). If you keep shaking it, it will just keep going down until it can't anymore. I'm thinking its the accelerometer.

But the catch is, it ONLY does it if I have a USB cable plugged in. Without the USB cable, it doesn't happen. It just showed up today. Its really bizarre. At first I thought it was a firmware bug, but in recovery mode, it still does it.

Should I take it into Verizon or what?
 
Well, it does it on my car charger, and two regular USB cables on my computer.

This is getting pretty annoying. I'm only thankful its only when I don't have it plugged in, which is the majority of the time.
 
i had the same problem, what happened is the plug for the usb is screwing with the track ball and it is being reflected on the screen. it is only going to get worse, go to verizon tell them whats up and they will replace it
 
Alright. I might have to do that tomorrow.

Also, since I'm on rooted 2.1, should I downgrade to 1.5?
 
and they are going to send it to you with 2 day shipping, so you have time to do what is needed to the phone to get it working for them
