$600 off contract says BestBuy

I just got off the phone with 3 separate Best Buy stores about how much the EVO will cost off contract because I wanted to come in and pre order. All of them told me $600!. . .

I guess that $450 was a pipe dream... Did sound too good to be true. Especially when the Incredible is $529 off contract

600 is the MSRP.... Its gona be the same anywhere you buy it off contract, especially sprint. that $199 is only for Upgraders and New Contracts as is the NORM....

Incorrect, Best Buy charges more for outright phone purchases. 599 is not the MSRP. That is just the Best Buy Price.

I got that email too... but Sprint never specifically announced the Off contract price.... And I also find it impossible to believe that this phone would cost less that the Incredible off contract.... Plus if you wanted to Pre-order it now... you would have to Pay $600....

Don't say I didn't sound the warning alarm when sprint starts taking 600 dollar pre-orders off contract lol

So Sprint sends an email out (see picture above) saying it is $450.....yet you are claiming its going to be $600 because BB told you that?

that's called Best Buy making money off of chumps who don't look around before buying...

Get it direct from Sprint $450. simple, done...

I just got a confirmation from a sprint rep that it infact is $449 of contract.
She said many people called i about that and they had no answer yesterday but today they did get answers to many questions people called in about including the off contract price.

Hi all,

Newcomer here, from the UK. Coming to the US quite often and was wondering if the off-contract Evo would be available unlocked...
Can't believe no one is going to import it here :(

people lets be reall I hope this phone is $450 off contract but it will probably be $600. The $450 price just shows how sprint discounts the phone the they maybe not showing something like a additional $150 off right off the bat. I mean comon The MSRP for the Hero is still $549 and you think the Evo will be $449. I really doubt that.

bottom line is bb price matches per there lowest price policy. i pre ordered yesterday and told the guy about the email i got from sprint stating the 449 price. he told me to bring the email in when i pick up my phone and they will match that price.

ROFLMAO
Some of the threads in this forum make you wonder. Best Buy charges more for the non contract phones for almost every phone they sell. Are some of you here just thick or just trollin?

personally due to work i cannot wait in line on release day for the phone. so unless sprint starts allowing preorders online that you can pick up in store on release day i will pay the extra amount to have the phone on release day. if i could however wait in line for the phone i would in a heartbeat

WTF seriously?! I guess I'm going to cancel my pre-order with Best Buy if this is true. I will go straight to Sprint.

I have no issue with that man. It seems most of the time getting new contracts is their major push over selling phones off contract. If you cant get yours launch day I would avoid all forum talk and gadget sites lol.

Per Sprints site, the Hero is 429, not 549.

Confirmed with a PR rep, $450 is SPRINT'S official off-contract price.
Hi Quentyn,
Thanks for the coverage! Following are answers to your questions:

* We noticed that the email that's sent to customers or potential customers inquiring about updates states The EVO 4G will have a base price of $449.99 - $150 on a 2-year agreement - $100 rebate. Is $449.99 the off-contract pricing for the EVO, or is this just a starting contract price before discounts and rebates?

Yes, $449.99 is the off-contract price.

* We're a bit confused on the issue regarding the extra $10 for premium data features. Does this mean a $10 add-on is required for 4G alone? Will customers who don't want 4G or don't live in a 4G market need to pay this add-on? Or is the add-on unrelated to 4G specifically? Speaking to a CSR, we heard that the $10 add-on was for premium content on Sprint's Mobile TV service, as well as other special features.

The $10 per month Premium Data add-on is required for all HTC EVO 4G users and allows the customer to take advantage of a richer data experience than ever before on HTC EVO 4G, including dual 8MP auto-focus camera with HD-capable video camcorder and a front-facing 1.3M camera that can be used for video chat, a superfast Snapdragon processor, a 4.3" touchscreen and 3G/4G capability.

* Are there any pre-order dates or details to be had yet? Or will Sprint not be doing any pre-orders for this device?

There are no additional details at this time.

Yea cuz none of this stuff would work if you didn't pay the extra $10.

yea I actually don't plan on using my EVO any differently than I do my G1. Twitter, light browsing, emails, texts, and calls. I just want the screen size and the speed. Ah well, we pay for what's valuable to us, and that's what I shall do without resistance.

Do you work for Sprint or Radio Shack?

If BB really charges $600 (which I doubt) I will cash in my $50 gift card and walk 100 yards (literally) to the Sprint store.
