Random Thought Thread

I sat out a few at my dad's house back in the day... One time, I helped prep the shop for storm surge in Jacksonville, then retreated to Tampa only to be pinned in-place by another hurricane parked off the coast there.

I think he's referring to his recent surgery ... shoulder somethingorother.

Yes. While I was being leaned on by a nurse trying to apply a pressure dressing I came to the Random Thought thread and "incision won't stop" came to mind and I finished the thought with "bleeding" in the First Word that comes to Mind thread.
I thought I was being pretty creative while my bedside was in a panic situation (there was 5 people in here at the same time trying to stop this little bleeding problem).
They just finished an ultrasound because a huge bruise has now appeared (8 days after surgery) in my armpit.
They think I have a hematoma.
Which probably means they got to go back in do something.

770 euros for a new iPhone, and those Apple fans still can't take a decent selfie :p A second camera will cost ya an extra 140 euros.
Nor can charge it, and play music in the same time. A sad iDay. Lol.

Good Lord, quit bleeding, already!

Do you think Apple have lost the plot with their new iPhone7 wireless earphone design? They ditched the 3.5mm heaphone socket. Is it a good thing? Will other phones follow suit? I certainly would not like to be forking out $159 for these wireless earbuds.

Wondering if they will come with a handy cord, like winter gloves for toddlers.

When I used to use headphones I had bluetooth/wireless, didn't use corded. I don't really use them anymore. If you can use any ol' BT set it's not a horrible thing, except they will break up/skip every now and again, corded won't. I'd still like the ability to plug in. Oh and. I think Apple really messed up with the whole charge your phone OR listen to music but don't do both, yeah, that was bad. And dongles. lol at that.

icrap devices aren't worth yesterday's porcelain goddess offerings.
Truth!

I only use BT for headphones, still use the Motorola S-11 HD.
The cord thing is horrible for car stereos!
- very noticeable volume drop (some stereos can help equalize that, but why fight with anything?)
- if you are charging the device from the car at the same time as playing music, you'll hear electronic motor noise no matter what kind of noise cancellation is used. That's why I went to a Bluetooth capable stereo, which eliminates motor noise while charging. Just some FYI on that part.. [emoji41]

Apple has always been one to abandon what they consider to be inferior technology for something new, so why stop now? I'm not sure why they went this way unless it's to improve their water resistant rating. "Holes" in phones do tend to let things in. ;)

Personally I've always viewed Apple's rationale about innovation to be massive spin to maximize profits, which they are expert at. We can all argue with the practicality and convenience, but you can't argue with their bottom line (well, maybe now.)

Time, as always, will tell. :)

No headphone jack?

The iPhone 7 is no longer compatible with my 1971 Spring Thunder 805 ("Made in the People's Republic of China")?

or my 1969 Internet ("Made in Hong Kong")?

BTW..I do wonder if there will be any current electronics products still working perfectly and usable in 45-50 years time, e.g. Apple or Samsung products? ...although I might not be alive to know.

I've got a working Technics portable CD player that my daughter uses. Bought circa 1989.
I think my Nexus5 battery will be long dead by the time it's 27 years old.

I bet that portable CD player just runs on available anywhere AA batteries. And as long as there's CDs around, can see no reason why it shouldn't go on playing for another 20-30 years. :D

These came with a new textbook last week.

Had to use my 8 year old white MacBook to play and rip them, which still works OK, but its battery is long kaput though, and was discarded and not replaced.

Not so much a random thought, a persistent one. I can't get this tune out of my head!
Playing it in a gig this weekend. YEAH BABY!!

You can still find CD, DVD, and even A drives that will plug into a computer.
I might track down an A drive. I have quite a few embroidery files on floppies. The craft PC - offline XP and even the desktop still have A drives. The craft PC will not be updated.
