I think you were just given bad information from Best Buy. In the Puget Sound region
Best Buy doesn't carry Sprint (I think they have an exclusive deal with T-Mobile in this area). The closest Best Buy to this area that carries Sprint is all the way down in Vancouver.

I had called the Best Buy in Tukwila about it the day that Best Buy started taking pre orders. I was told that after it was released (June 4th) that they could probably order me one and have it shipped to me. For me, that was a big no go!

I had no idea...weird! I walked up to the counter and said I wanted to preorder an EVO. One guy said something like 'oh, we're all out of preorders', and then as I was walking away another guy warned me that most of the other Sprint / BB stores in the area were also sold out and he didn't want me to waste my time. Oh well, it just means Radio Shack is my new best friend :)
 
Anyone who has ordered through EVP,what was the time frame your rep gave you?
My rep said I would get it earlier than June 4th possibly, he said it would ship to me as soon as it hit warehouse inventory. I have a feeling that will be within the week or maybe week and a half. I just can't see the shipment arriving at the warehouse on May 31st thru June 2nd for pre-orders that are to be in the customers hands on the 4th and 5th. MIND YOU,THIS IS JUST SPECULATION AND WISHFUL THINKING. :) I don't want to read that I stated this as fact 5 posts from now. :)

I don't think charging the phone could be accomplished through HDMI. You can charge it with either of the included cables though. I saw a post with a picture of a dock somewhere that had both micro-USB and micro-HDMI but again, no charging with HDMI. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Best buy said the exact same thing to me. They did not take make appointment. They said they will call me when they receive the phone. They said they usually will get the phones 1 week before the date. They will then set a time that week to pick up the phone.

The Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2 share the same USB connector. I know this because I replaced my Touch Pro with the Touch Pro 2 and did not have to buy another USB connector.
 
Please, stay on topic.

Other forums should be treated like Vegas. What happens there should stay there. Unless the information adds weight to the current topic there is no reason to bring it up here.

Also, for members discussing other members, past or present, your words about them only serve to fuel ego. Positive or negative attention is still attention.

One advantage of pre-orders could be that instead of waiting for months on end (if not pre-ordered), you will need to wait for a much shorter time before getting your EVO.

I mentioned this somewhere but on Amzer.com they have cases and some will be out 6/7 and some say 6/21. But some cover more around the top of the phone and they cover up the front battery at the top. I wonder why? But I like how they have a cut out for the kick stand. And then the lady at HTC said go to Day Deal and they had nothing yet. I called Day Deal inquiring about the evo accessories and was told just buy the HD2 cases they will work. Well they had some really cute ones but I want the cut out for the kickstand.

Why would you need a screen protector for a capacitive touch screen? Have you tried to scratch an iPhone or an iPod Touch? Unless you use a screwdriver, it is pretty hard to scratch those surfaces. It you don't want fingerprints, then that is a whole new ball game. Capacitive touch screens such as the iPod Touch and iPhone are fingerprint magnets and the EVO might be one too. We have to wait and see.

Oh and for those that might say "...but you don't have any guarantee's and shouldn't expect the phone to be updated..." I say that's crap. The entire point of Android is that it is "open" and up-datable.

I agree with your statement that Android is an open and updatable OS. But the EVO is not a stock Android phone. It has HTC Sense on it. So just because there is a newer version of the Android OS, unless someone modifies the OS to work with HTC Sense (or creates a new HTC Sense), updating the EVO's OS will not be that simple.

I hear that! I ran to RS right after work on Friday. Out of the 3 that I called, only one had a clue as to what was up.
 
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I am about 5 days behind now and don't have time to get all caught up. Google conference in SF this week I believe and they are going to be talking about 2.2 Froyo. In particular, check out this quote:

My rep also said it could be a few days early. But if you were told that it would ship as soon as it hit the warehouse and it's before the 4th then I guess I'll get mine 1st since the warehouse is here where I live. And I had asked once before if I could go there to pick up a phone and was told no. I so hope it's before the 4th..

I think we all have the same rep. I was told they would ship it as soon as it hit the warehouse and it could be anywhere from a week to a day before launch day. But I have heard stories about people getting the tp, and diamond a week early. I skipped BB in hopes of getting it a little earlier than some of my friends.

Yup. EVP rep told me the same, but no guarantees and said he's definitely not sure, when it comes to the EVO.

As for the TP and Diamond a week early at BB, I got my TP a week earlier than general release. I was actually the only one to pick it up from that particular Best Buy that morning, so I just walked in and walked out in 20 minutes. Then, I went to the Sprint store to see if they had any accessories and they kept asking me where I got my phone...LOL. I'm not positive BB gets them earlier this time though.

I am sorry drexappeal. I meant to say EVP (nationlink) sent it out 1 week earlier than the release date. I was just making reference to BB , because it seems that's where most people are going.

For the TP, I got mine from BB 1 week earlier, so if EVP did it as well it wouldn't surprise me.
