VIRUS HOAX? us.universalized483un.xyz

Twice this morning I got a scary warning screen saying that I had FOUR viruses attacking my Samsung Android, because I had been visiting porn sites... but I most assuredly had NOT been visiting porn sites.

It told me to download "CM for Android" at us.universalized483un.xyz and it would fix it for me. HA! Yeah, right.

I immediately turned off my phone. When I went turned it back on, and resumed reading the same travel article, I got the same message... so turned it off again. But no scary warning screen the third time reading the same article.

I cannot find any reference to that URL in this forum or a general Google Search. So... is it a hoax trying to scare me and scam me out of money? Your input is most welcome. Thank you!

Were you visiting any website when this message appeared? Lots of these are very annoying popup ads.

You probably should just have to clear your browser cache and the pop-ups will go away (until the next time you visit an non-porn site;) )

I have been a software trainer for 20 years and can make a computer dance on command, but smartphones are a different story. How do I "clear my browser cache" please? Thank you.

I'd love to see an iMac do the hokey-pokey. ;)

If you're using Chrome as your browser, then open up chrome, press menu (three dots in the upper right) and go to settings. Tap on the privacy setting and scroll all the way to the bottom and chose clear browsing data. If you're using the webkit browser, it probably just says "internet", but the steps should be similar.

This is normal on all android phones. These ads hijack chrome and cause pop ups and can hijack chrome completely not allowing you to go back or switch tabs unless you close chrome.

Its annoying, but it will continue so long as there is not normal pop up manager for chrome.
