I do know about the MIR with Sprint and that's okay. But I didn't know the store manager could still give me the discount if I didn't order there because the military discount is usually only 15% and he said he could give me 25%. Either way I'll still be getting the Evo on day of release!!

See if he can set it up that you have a the discount for your account (not just the purchase price of the phone). Getting a 25% discount would be a great thing to have over time...I would wait for the MIR if I could get that discount!

Thanks for the info.

The 25% discount is on the monthly bill, not on the phones...$129.99 (family plan 1500 min)-25% and add $20 for the evo fee on two phones. I think I got a good deal since the normal military discount is 15%.

the only concern with memory I have is about all the new games like for the iphone coming out and not having space on the phone to download everything I want because as of right now with android 2.1 you can put apps on the sd card

I thought you COULD NOT do that as of right now, but they were working on it? Anybody who can clarify?

I don't blame you I did the same thing. I pre-order at RS, cancelled that went to Sprint and talked to the manager and he offered me 25% off the monthly bill. I said sign me up. I'll wait for the MIR, you will save a hell of a lot more money over time with the 25% off the monthly bill.

By any chance is this a new account you opened up?

yeah but are you willing to pay $200 for a 32gb card?

Oddly enough, something that will hopefully last much longer than the phone i am buying for 200$(to get a years use out of if I'm lucky) i would not... And I'm sure many other people feel the same...

Yes, I had Sprint before and am now with verizon. Do you know if Sprint still does the one time $25 referral credit? I believe they used to, but haven't heard it mentioned lately.

I know that there is a whole section of this site dedicated to rooting, so I'm not looking for a detailed explanation, but...how difficult is it to do so? I have a pre right now and have been able to use the homebrew apps and the tweaks and things like that, but I'm also not really a genius when it comes to that kind of thing so what kind of process are we talking about?

I'll do ya one better, ask the manager about a $100 credit for porting the number over. :)

please do not take this wrong, i say this with every bit of kindness. If you were unable to run homebrew on your pre, then find a friend who is familiar with android and is a techy and have them root it for you once rooting is a possibility. I'm not saying it's particularly difficult, but if you make a mistake, you can find yourself in a pickle trying to fix it.

just my two cents, and again, im really not trying to be mean or condescending.

EDIT: Disregard, I really should learn to read. LoL.

Wow! I'm definitely going to ask about this!! Was this for personal or business accounts? I was under the impression it was a credit for businesses.

I don't want to be greedy or push my luck, but does this ever happen for two numbers being ported? It doesn't hurt to ask. Just trying to take advantage of what is available because I don't think anyone at the store would've mentioned it otherwise.

Thanks for the info!!

If you are unable to read my post correctly, then find a friend who can......sorry, that's the smart arse in me and I cannot help it. I'm just kidding and mean no disrespect at all, it is late and tbh I had to go back and re-read my post to make sure I had not said the wrong thing.
I'm just worried because from what I understand webos is supposed to be very open and very easy to change to whatever the individual wants. If it is as easy to root as it is to tweak webos then I will have no issue at all. I was just curious as to a brief description of what root(ing?) the EVO would entail.

You should be fine then. It reminded me a lot of installing Rom's on early winmo phones.

What up fellas been lurkin for about a month just registered. I currently own a Touch Pro. I'm a premier Sprint customer so I upgrade every year except last. I preordered the Evo on the 14th from BB. Been a sprint customer since my first phone on sprint came out the PPC 6600 which everyone laughed at back then and said how big it was. LOL. We've come a long way since then. Just wanted to intro myself an say hi.

I'm new to the whole Android OS. I've had WMobile phones ever since I got that 6600. Was wondering how file management works. Is there anything like File Explorer on Android? Sorry if this question seem elementary im just new to the Android OS. Thanks again fellas.

Okay, question here...not sure if this is the "exact" spot for it but chiming in with prior posts.

I am a soon to be NEW customer with Sprint (for the EVO). I have purchased the BB pre-order, and am like #10 on my store's list. However I keep seeing opportunities for new customers to obtain a $50 new customer credit or porting credit, on top of waived activation. Since I am purchasing at BB if I call into customer service is this something they will "consider" or laugh at me because I bought it at BB? I'm not trying to be greedy and if I must sacrifice these opportunities because I pre-ordered at BB...well then so be it, but I just thought someone here might have some insight???

There are a couple that I can think of off the top of my head.

Astro File Manager
Linda file manager
ES File Explorer
