backup and restore inquiry

hello guys i want to know if there is a free backup and restore app that does not backup app apk but store a link to download later from google play?

Also are the built in backup and restore app option only work between phones of the same manufacturer meaning i cannot use it to restore on a phone from another company? Im using lg btw.

Thanks.

Google play store automatically will reinstall your apps, and keeps a history of all installed. Works on any Android device, even if you get a new phone

Why can't you use an app that backs up apk? That seems like the simplest method for.yiour situation. Back up the apk that you want, then restore them to another device. Once they are installed they should be linked to the play store.

I would but i dont want to be tied to one company. Thats why i asked does it work if i restore into a different device from a different company. Also apk is just too big and consume data. i dont mind that much but If there is an option to upload only links that would be great.

Yes it will restore to another device. All the backup app is doing is reinstalling all the apk files. It shouldn't use data unless you are uploading the apk to a cloud service, which you should only do over WiFi.

I personally use titanium backup on all my devices but it requires root. And I've used it many times to restore all my apps to a new device along with the app data.

A popular app for non root users is Helium:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup

This app requires a PC also.

I also found this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps

Sounds like what you are looking for. I actually found several apps that do this but most Haven't been updated in years. This one is still fairly current.

Yes i can upload to PC but i want to put into cloud actually thats why.

I want to know also does lg backup file works on other decices from other company if i do restore?

Also how do you know if backup also include app data like game progress for example is there a way to verify?

Thank tou very much

Did you look at this link?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps

That sounds like what you are looking for. It can save a list of apps as market links and you can share the list. That was what you were looking for in your original post.

Unfortunately without a rooted device, you won't be able to back up app data. Unless it's external data that is saved on the device storage.

Yes this is awesome thanks alot!!

One final thing. App data get backed up only with rooting? So the default backup app does back it up? (Since its installed by default)? If so how can i verify this?

Thabks again!

The default backup app does not back up app data. All it will do is automatically reinstall the apps you use onto another device from the play store.

There are some apps that use cloud save. So, any app you are using that has that feature, you will have your data for, but everything else will be like installing for the first time.

It's really a shame that there is no stock solution to keep your app data reliably between devices. There's one of the main reasons that I root my devices. For complete app/app data backups.
