I just find it interesting that 3 years ago the iphone was 8gb. here we are 3 years later and the new "top of the line" phone comes with a whopping.........8gb.

Release dates
Original: June 29, 2007
3G: July 11, 2008
3GS: June 19, 2009

Memory options
Original: 4, 8, & 16 GB
3G: 8 & 16 GB
3GS: 16 & 32 GB

I'm guessing that the iPhone of 3 years ago was pretty damn expensive ($399 or more is what I've found) for the 8GB let alone the 16GB model.

It's all about economics. For $199 the EVO with 8GB is good and you can freely upgrade when you feel like it

If you use pdanet you wouldn't have to pay the tethering fee every month. It works regardless of the phone being rooted.

TS do we have any confirmation that PDAnet will work with 4G as well as 3G on the phone? June fabrics isn't very good about information updates.

***EDIT***
Found this interesting, but I still don't have an answer about the 4G tethering

Sprint says it will allow PDAnet tethering on EVO 4G, suggests it will also allow built-in Wi-Fi mobile hotspot capability in 2.2 'Froyo' update for Android

Thanks for that link!

Also, I found a wifi tether app called "Barnacle" that I posted about yesterday...unfortunately nobody responded to the thread LOL. But it looks promising and its completely free.

Interesting video and surprisingly that unit's rocking a red speaker grill which was only found on the prototypes.

Yeah that surprised me as well, I noticed the date and time on the screen was yesterday's date as well. So they are trying to get as much mileage as they can on those prototypes I guess.

The sticker on the back said 'with Trevor' or something like that, and his voice sounded familiar, I'm guessing it was Trevor Van Norman who we know from some of the CTIA videos and Qik videos from early on.

The same person that was trumpeting silver earpieces also trumpeted june 6 and 8 gigs onboard storage. Just saying.

I personally hope they are red, but it seems like silver is more likely, but again, anything is possible.

I really doubt sprint will allow wifi hotspotting through google. Though i would probably trust google more than sprint.

True true, but the demonstrator in the the video kept saying "this is early hardware" so I wouldn't get my hopes up on red earpieces.

Not as if it matters. If it's built into Froyo that's practically a guarantee that that the Android community will unlock it on the EVO despite any sort of lockdown that Sprint tries to implement.

I will say - it would be very, very cool of Sprint not to get in the way of that feature. A very pro-consumer stance.

The unit shown in the video is a test unit. Notice on the back it says "With Trevor" and on the kickstand there is a serial number etched into it.

He who shall not be named was actually right on that part.
