Help VZW missing active edge choices? **SOLVED***

Is it just me? I haven't heard a peep from anyone asking or talking about this. My Verizon Pixel XL2 only has one setting for it. squeeze to silent calls. that's it and the only choice i have on mine. And I know there are a couple more in the google version


So is this just mine? or am i doing something wrong? or am i missing something maybe????

That's definitely odd. I can't imagine why it would be disabled on a VZW 2XL.

Can you trigger Assistant by long-pressing the Home button? Have you checked to be sure you don't have any pending app updates?
 
pressing home button does bring up assistant. Or at least i think it's assistant...ha


and no pending updates. i check that constantly because a few apps were buggy with this thing and can;t wait for them to get fixed. Like Sirius XM app could not be "X'ed" out of till the update today. i had to go to the square button for last used apps and "clear all" to shut it down each time. My Starbucks was a little buggy also byt they seem to updates these fairly quick and everything is working good now



And i can't believe no one has said a word about no options in the VZ version for squeeze. that' why i'm thinking maybe something wrong with mine? I know they usually screw us out of a few features but there is no reason for those setting not to be there that i could think of. I guess i need someone with a Verizon model to chime in to see if it's me only. Or maybe a setting in assistant? i'll check that now(but i think i already did day one)

yes it is!!!! And just checked everywhere in "Assistant" itself for a setting anf found nothing


I even have Developers options on so i could get the different icon shapes and still nothing. We need another Verzon phone to know. Or am i the only one that got from VZ(i only did it because the ship date was 3 weeks before the one i had in cart from Google)???
 
that's exactly what i figure. But have to get confirmation or i'll never rest. I'm one of those weirdos

I've checked with a few other users and can confirm that they have the full suite of Active Edge settings available to them, even on Verizon models. I also remember experimenting with those options on a display model at the Verizon store and was indeed able to play with the "squeeze for Assistant" feature.

Did you transfer your data from your previous device or set up the Pixel 2 XL as a new one?
 
Hummmmmm. first off thanks a million. Second, I think i did the google sync thing setting up. Yes i'm pretty sure i did. Why, do you think that has something to do with it maynbe???
 
I've seen some screwy behaviors on devices that copied settings/data from another device. It may be worth trying a factory reset to see if that clears up the Active Edge stuff.
 
Of course being lazy and trying to avoid that. took me two weeks to get it set up like i have it now.

Maybe the next update? When we get 8.1. I'll wait till that and then if not do the old reset. Thanks and i'm going to fish around and see if i can find anything under "apps" type things on the phone. or in system or somewhere like that

just noticed that "Device Policies" is disabled. I don't think i would of done that. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Nope, that's normal. That app will only become active if you associate your phone with a managed GSuite (previously Google Apps) account.
 
Had issues with my active edge, contact Google support (through your assistant). There are some wonky things they took me through, but it works now.
 
Thanks again hawkeye because without you I would of never thought to call them. Problem solved and it was simple.

They tell me it's a common problem with Verizon variants. My "Language" was set to English(Netherlands) by default. I saw "English" so never thought anything of it.


Changed it to "English(United States) and now I have ALL the options!!!!! It was simple and took them 5 minuets to diagnose and fix for me.
